Actor Tim Allen has doubled down on his condemnation of ABCs decision to abruptly cancel the highly-rated sitcom Last Man Standing, saying his funny, likable conservative character may have led to the shows demise. The veteran actor and stand-up comedian unloaded on the network Tuesday during an appearance on Norm Macdonald Live.
I have no idea why they did what they did, Allen said of ABC. You couldnt have handled this worse.
Second biggest show, [ABC] hadnt won a Friday night in 15 years, he said. They put us out to pasture on Friday and we won Friday. Big night for us. Big night for them. I would have put Roseanne after us. Use us just to launch shows, if nothing else.
Last Man was ABCs second-highest-rated comedy behind Modern Family, averaging, in its sixth season, an impressive 6.41 million live viewers.
ABC canceled the series in early May sparking a boycott and backlash after six successful seasons, in which it was nominated for two Primetime Emmys. The cancellation inspired a viral Change.org petition, which has collected more than 410,000 signatures. Speculation swirled for months over reports that 20th Century Fox and later CMT would become the new network home for Last Man.
In May, ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey defended her decision to cancel the show, citing business and scheduling conflicts. ABC later said Allens conservative political views were not part of the decision.

Liberals hate censorship. Unless conservatives are the ones being censored. Then liberals love censorship.
My wife and I have been watching this show A LOT lately. ABC killed it because they spoke the truth about current issues....... AND it’s a very funny show.
It does air on CMT and Hallmark channel
They also don’t mind other opinions.......as long as it agrees with theirs.
GALAXY QUEST.. was on TV this weekend. It like the Godfather movies I gotta watch!
Good ole Tim Allen~!
Bkmrk.
I only watched one episode after the controversy started. I didn’t know about it. I don’t watch much TV. But it sounds like something I would like. I will have to get on board with this.
Never forget these the folks asking for a “conservation on race” are shutting down conservative speech left and right. Tim Allen, Curt Schilling, etc. Follow the party line or be destroyed. Pure fascism.
“In May, ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey defended her decision to cancel the show...”
And I present to you Channing Dungey: https://www.google.com/search?q=Channing+Dungey&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwify-nM88XWAhUmslQKHWyRBVQQ_AUICygC&biw=1242&bih=579
Gee, could Dungey have had another reason for canceling a show about a likable conservative? Hmmm....
Here’s how this “conversation on race” is supposed to work. They talk, you listen. It’s not supposed to be a two-way conversation.
I never watched Tim the Tool Man until it was in re-runs. It was enjoyable — for a comedy.
I have not watched a single episode of Last Man Standing.
I find comedies difficult to watch, especially those that seem to center around sex and body parts. Also, I do not like slap-stick, whether TV or movies.
After Trump won the election, liberals became extremely frustrated. When that happens, a person desperately wants to take some action, not just talk. I suspect that was what prompted Ms. Channing Dungey to cancel the second-highest rated comedy program on her network, ABC.
Heres how this conversation on race is supposed to work. They talk, you listen. Its not supposed to be a two-way conversation.
“Agree with me or you are racist and your opinion is invalid.” A pure and unadulterated totalitarian way of thinking.

I always say they want a lecture not a conversation. The second you bring up a point it’s you don’t understand.
“Later in the call, a reporter asked Dungey if the politically charged climate figured into ABC’s decision-making process about upcoming shows and development.
“There’s a lot of news, and I think that people are definitely looking to television as a place they want to feel, they want to laugh, they want to cry ... the mood of the country has told us that television is a little bit of an escape,” Dungey said. “What people want to do now is connect and experience and to feel ... that did frame a lot of our development thinking this season.”
