After this one is passed, do the same kind of one sentence bill to terminate Obamacare.

The Dept. of Education is deeply involved in the $1.2 Trillion debt bubble burden that is being heaped upon young people.

We might stand a chance of the kids in this country turning out okay if the Dept. of Ed. goes away.

Since these teachers and administrators are so politically charged they dont have the sense or decency to assign the he pronoun to males or the she pronoun to females, it is definitely time to end the political influence of Washington politics in the classroom.

I’m beginning to realize that any serious downsizing of government is not going to take place in my lifetime. If the bull we put in the china shop is hogtied by our own allies, it ain’t gonna happen.

Good idea, but not holding breath.
First, send the UN out of the United States,
Then, defund Planned Parenthood.
Once THAT level of focus, courage and skill has been demonstrated to the world, then take on the Education Department.
The Labor Unions would go completely hysterically nuts.
They would out-do Antifa in mob type behavior.
To: BlackFemaleArmyCaptain
Brilliant. In the 1970’s prior to the establishment of the US Department of Education, the U.S. had the #1 education system in the world. In a mere 40 years, under the direction of the USDOE, it declined to 27th and is even lower now.

What is the Federal government's compelling, constitutional interest in education? It is basically to provide that there exists a population of citizens educated enough to successfully take part in the political, cultural and commercial life of the country in order “to form a more perfect Union, provide for the common defense, insure domestic tranquility, and preserve the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.” This is not a separate purpose and function of the national government, and does not require a separate cabinet level department.
So where would a national office of education fit? Possibly into the Department of Commerce.
I propose that the Department of Education be down graded to a Sub-Department of the Dept. of Commerce, and all its employees take a one grade cut in pay, rank and privileges; e.g. Cabinet Office to Under Secretary, GS-15 to GS-14, and so on to GS-2 to GS-1.
This would save money, as well as put the functions of the Dept. of Ed. in their proper perspective.
Then we can take a look at the other Recently created Cabinet Level Departments, and see if they too might be better as agencies of the more traditional Departments.
