They were outside his door in sixteen minutes. He detected them and started firing through the door. His target priority became the police instead of the concert goers.
The two police officers held their positions until SWAT breached about an hour later. He was found dead.
At some point, and probably not long after the first officers arrived, he committed suicide.
He was not shooting for an hour plus straight.

The only rapid-fire equipment verified so far (in photos) has been "
Bump-Fire" stocks for ARs . Those are simple to install, but require considerable practice to achieve consistent "auto" RPM rates as recorded at the scene.
Having said that, there is no scarcity of desert for secluded practice in the area -- and Paddock had plenty of ammo...
I have, as yet seen no reliable evidence that auto-sear mods or factory select-fire weapons were involved.
