Republican Rep. Carlos Curbelo Introduces Gun Control Bill for Bump Stocks (Goes beyond bump stocks)
Breitbart ^ | Oct 10, 2017 | AWR Hawkin

Posted on 10/11/2017 3:51:09 PM PDT by Red Steel

Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL) put forward a gun control bill Tuesday designed to ban the manufacture, sale, or possession of bump stock accessories in the United States.

Breitbart News reported that Barack Obama’s ATF approved bump stocks for sale because they are accessories, not conversion devices. In other words, they do not convert a semiautomatic into an automatic. Curbelo gets around this with legislation that bans accessories that “increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic 16 rifle but [do] not convert” it into an automatic. ...

Curbelo’s bill, which is yet to be titled, focuses on accessories that speed the rate of fire for a semiautomatic without turning it into a fully automatic weapon. The language is broad and all-encompassing: “[The bill will] prohibit the manufacture, possession, or transfer of any part or combination of parts that is designed and functions to increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle but does not convert the semiautomatic rifle into a machinegun, and for other purposes.”

As Breitbart News has reported, the same effect one gets from a bump stock can be duplicated with nothing but ...

Or will he just ban fingers, which is all Paul Nehlen needs to make his AR fire rapidly.

The legislation doesn't even mention "bump stocks" and here's the bill itself.

It has great potential to gut the arms industry and ban modern semi-auto rifles.

Get a higher quality trigger group for your AR and you are now in violation of another unconstitutional law.

Bigger magazines could be interpreted as “increasing the rate of fire”.

The Eotech reflex sight gave the Vegas perp a better sight picture, which increased the rate of fire for him. The sky is the limit.

I knew this would happen. Congress NEVER passes a clean bill. They are always loaded up with things. You can be certain the final bill is going to have “universal background checks,” AKA gun registration, tucked in their somewhere.

Curbelo’s record is so horrible that he’s a left-winger by Democrat standards. He got an 87% left-wing rating from the ACU in 2016. I believe he is “the” most left-wing RINO in Congress at present. He could switch parties and he wouldn’t have to alter his voting record at all.

Oops, WalMart, Staples, and OfficeMax are going to have to remove rubberbands from the shelves. Where do we turn ours in? What about belt loops?

Every component part and the whole assembly of a semi-automatic rifle or handgun serves to increase the rate of fire without converting it to full auto.

This is an attempt to ban semi-automatics entirely.

The video on how to bumpfire without buying a stock is still on the breitbart site. Several others if you go directly to the youtube link. No need to buy a stock. Rubberbands or a strong belt loop, or thumb is all that is needed
