Trump clears way for ObamaCare 'alternatives' in new executive order, goes around stalled Congress

The White House announced Thursday that President Trump is taking executive action on health care as Congress stalls on efforts to overhaul ObamaCare, calling for a plan that could let employers band together and offer coverage across state lines.

An executive order Trump plans to sign Thursday morning aims to offer “alternatives” to ObamaCare plans and increase competition to bring down costs.

“The time has come to give Americans the freedom to purchase health insurance across state lines, which will create a truly competitive national marketplace that will bring costs way down and provide far better care,” Trump said in a statement.TRUMP'S HEALTH CARE EXECUTIVE ORDER: WHAT TO KNOW

According to officials, Trump will direct the secretary of labor to consider expanding access to Association Health Plans, which could allow employers to form groups across state lines offering coverage. According to the White House, these plans could offer lower rates.

Those "association health plans" could be shielded from some state and federal insurance requirements. But responding to concerns, the White House said participating employers could not exclude any workers from the plan, or charge more to those in poor health.

The order also calls on other federal agencies to consider expanding coverage in low-cost, short-term insurance plans not subject to ObamaCare rules.

If we want it to be permanent, then we know our jobs in 2018.

We should consider this a cash-advance that we need to underwrite with our vote next year.

If he were to do this (which I support wholeheartedly), then one of two things would occur: congress would quickly get back in session and repeal Obamacare, or they would seriously begin impeachment proceedings.

Or maybe both.

“As much as I agree with our President’s use of the Executive order in this instance are we being hypocritical?”

Man, dont compare DJT with that Imbecile. When you go to war, you use every weapon at your disposal. Trump is fighting against his own party, the media and Dems. I dont want him handcuffed.

Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it. Have a look at this non-profit, that’s now in receivership:

Just food for thought, but we were all outraged by Obama’s use of Executive orders during his eight year reign of terror. As much as I agree with our President’s use of the Executive order in this instance are we being hypocritical?

***

In this case, no.

And even if it was a blatant misuse of power on par with Obama, we COULD make an argument about it being acceptable, but in this case it’s not quite to that point.

If I remember correctly, OCare gave a huge amount of power to the executive in its implementation, so Trump is 100% within the law right now.

Trump imitating Obama’s unconstitutional legislative acts? NOT GOOD!

Doing the wrong thing for the right reason is still WRONG!!!

THE issue in America isn’t healthcare, it is THE CONSTITUTION and LIMITED FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

When the Right violates the Constitution for the “right” reason they enable the Left to utterly dispose of the Constitution and establish REAL tyranny.

BTW, the answer to unconstitutional Obamacare is for the executive branch AND the states to simply NOT ENFORCE Obamacare until the American People FORCE Congress to act and legislate constitutionally.

To the degree Trump rejects and refuses to enforce Obamacare because it is unconstitutional, to that degree Trump is behaving constitutionally. But Trump must not create law through EO’s like Obama did.

*facepalm* Just as illegal as the last Prez....

How ‘bout:
- Getting back to ROOTS (insurance only covering the UNKNOWN).
- Same tax breaks/group purchase for insurance as employers/etc.
- Kill the electronic medical records (govt doesn’t need to know)
- Publishing medical costs (enough of the ‘we’ll charge AFTER’)
- Expanded HSA
- etc.

Sure. Happened Cal. BCBS also. Deliberate get your $ and run.

State oversight, protections for whistleblowers should help. Lots better than for profits.

There are so many....The Secretary shall decides....in Obamacare I don’t know why Trump has to do anything. Tom Price could’ve more or less made Obamacare null and void by undoing or reinterpreting a lot of things. Apparently he didn’t want to do anything but fly places and make speeches.

So! We will have 7 years without it.

Defeat the undocumented Democrats in Congress and elect Mike Pence for 8 years after President Trump.

Obamacare is a Congressional act, howbeit an unconstitutional congressional act. The Constitution only authorizes Congress to make legislation.

To the degree Trump is initiating legislative acts, he is imitating Obama’s unconstitutional behavior. NOT GOOD!

We are outraged by the use of napalm, too, but if the enemy uses it, they can damned sure know we will too.

I didn't necessarily have a problem with Obama issuing executive orders. It was the things he was ordering that were so depressing.
