Trump should recognize Catalonia
as an independent country
Here's a current video of events on the ground covering the Catalan Declaration of Independence posted yesterday.
Catalan Independence - What will happen next?
Key Points:
Recap of past six years of independence movement with crowds in million + events without violence until Oct 1, 2017 referendum, when Madrid controlled police raided polling stations employing violent tactics. Succeeding in limiting voting. This is the counter to only 40% pro independence poo-pooing.
Catalan region mayors arrived with their staffs of office to display their support, aware that they face prison for sedition against the State/EU globalism.
Measured responses by articulate English speaking advocates and reporters.
Overall impression of the crowds, joyful not at all angry. Danish and Greek flags seen in support of Catalan.
We need to keep in mind that the Euro and US media are and remain fully in the globalist camp and controll the flow abd direction of news coverage.
More.... Violence...Madridagain sacks Barcelona police Chief....lots of night photos...
The new country would be to the left of Cuba; he should pay them no mind.
All the more reason to get out of Spain.
This seems to me to be a no good guys involved situation.
To the extent that I support the concept of a “nation”, I’ll side with the Spanish government here. Catalonia is filled with loony leftists.
I don’t, Catalonia is the richer area of Spain that is taxed to death to support the rest of the deadbeats in the country.
They were a main center of the Communist forces during the Spanish Civil War, it is worth noting.
They are Spain’s version of NYC, and they were beaten by (as Sarah Palin so aptly described) the people that “grow their food and fight in their wars”. Catalonia is the seat of leftist politics in Spain; if they are taxed to death why do they vote so socialist?
Many people in NY and CA said the same thing after the 2016 election; because costs of living are higher, income taxes are higher - and they feel they support the “deadbeats” in real America...
Yes, and by the time Barcelona fell the left had destroyed all illusions about its plans for the “new utopia”. Few people defended the city at that point; the communists kept troops in line at the point of their commissars’ guns.
“Trump should recognize Catalonia
as an independent country”
There are dozens of independence movements around the world. For the most part they are orchestrated by people who do not have the best interest of the perspective citizens in mind. There are or have been such movements in the United States. Recognition of Catalonia might have far reaching long term consequences. If Trump does decide to recognize Catalonia I would hope he’d call together a large number of gamers and game the possible eventual consequences. (I envision something like a war game, but without an admiral who can rescore the sinking of an aircraft carrier as mere damage.)
Suppose California left the union. What happens when they run out of money and sell or rent assets and space to America’s enemies? Then there are all the disaffected groups in our own borders who might want their own country.
I think the Catalonia thing would be an excellent opportunity to ignore world events until they sort themselves out.
I am independent!
He’s from Barcelona.
>>I think the Catalonia thing would be an excellent opportunity to ignore world events until they sort themselves out.
I like this idea.
Yes, but congress does that.
