Complete Headline: Dallas police were WARNED Lee Harvey Oswald would be murdered by a 'committee' - but still sent him to his death, infuriating FBI head J Edgar Hoover, newly released JFK documents reveal

The murder of Lee Harvey Oswald could have been prevented after the FBI were warned of his impending death - but Dallas police failed to protect him, it has emerged.

Nearly 3,000 documents related to JFK's shooting have been declassified by The White House, among them remarks made by then-FBI boss J Edgar Hoover the day Oswald died.

According to Hoover, the FBI were contacted by a man who said a 'committee' was plotting to kill Oswald, who had been arrested for killing the president; the feds then told police in Dallas to protect the presidential assassin.

Instead, Oswald was walked out in front of a crowd, cameras - and local nightclub owner Jack Ruby, who marched out and shot him dead.

Maybe there’s an angle I’m not catching, but it seems to me that the cost of the war would have made it harder to pay for the “Great Society” programs, not easier.

It all came out of the federal budget. Without the cost of the war, wouldn’t there have been much more funds for those programs?

It would be interesting to know how much of our $20 trillion in debt is directly related to the “Great Society” / “War on Poverty” programs also.

Just in keeping all the others who were involved (IMO a couple of bad federal agents who may have been covering for higher ups) out of jail. But gun control might be considered a big pay off for some. Especially the ones trying to dismantle the Constitution.

Unintended circumstances always get in the way of the Star Chamber crap.

Yes, nothing but old news, nothing has changed. The Warren Commission was not perfect, but they arrived at the correct conclusions— to the dismay and disappointment of conspiracy wonks.

Extraordinary claims of a major conspiracy require extraordinary proof. There is no such extraordinary proof

That reminds me of a joke that was going around right after the assassination. “LBJ looks at his watch, ducks down, and puts his fingers in his ears”.

The fact that he mail ordered the Carcono is why we have the Gun Control act of 1968 that doesn’t let us order firearms by mail.

This article is total crap. The shooting happened in the basement of the downtown Dallas Police Department Station I I mean it was a secure location. The truth is the police knew Jack Ruby well he was offend around he, would feed the policemen when they came into his place, or buy them drinks if they were off duty. It’s just no one expected him to do anything like this.

I agree it was Oswald, but the more that comes out, the more questions.

Or the “National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States.”

But people do! Here even, where we KNOW that the government is capable of some very nasty things against us.

To people like LBJ the war and attendant protests
were worth it just to keep the taxpayer from realizing
how much the “great” society was going to cost.

But hey, we can trust politicians right?

Politicians are actors.
In ancient Greece actors had a name...hypocrites.

That is false. The best shooting with the worst rifle, not hardly.

The Warren Commission describes the tests it had performed which were much easier than the actual shots. Three master riflemen attempted to duplicate the shots at a STATIONARY target using as much time as they wished for the first shot. None hit the target with every shot and these were marksmen qualified for Olympic competition at least five levels above the mediocre LHO.

Of course you can’t prove a negative. However, the probability that Oswald made those shots with that rifle is approaching zero.

Every claim made by the WCR has more holes than Swiss cheese and the rifle has the most. It frequently contradicts the testimony to be found in the Exhibits to the Report.

The testimony it wanted to hear was in the Report while almost all contrary testimony (and there were hundred of witnesses who saw different sights.)

Most witnesses at the time stated the shots came from the direction of the sixth floor school book depository. Two of Oswald’s coworkers on the fifth floor heard the sound of a bolt action rifle being worked above them, and spent shells hitting the floor. Another witness saw the rifle barrel extending from the sniper’s nest.

The WCR was a huge cover-up. The Mob maneuvered its allies in the government’s attempts to kill Castro to cover up the real nature of the murder. Those allies were CIA who had worked with high-ranking Mafioso for several years including periods which were kept secret from the Kennedys.

When a murder occurs the general approach to solving it asks: was there means, motive and opportunity. None were present in LHO doing the killing. Not even opportunity.

Even the WC could not come up with a motive, try as they might.

Not the 7.6. Other MCs were much superior to “the humanitarian rifle.”

Where you get that little tidbit?

Two-thirds of the witnesses outside the depository thought shots came from the Grassy Knoll. They were running up the hill to it. Almost all their testimony was disregarded since there was only one reason for the WC - to fix blame on Oswald. This was its standard operation as regards evidence.

CORRECTION

Not the 6.5. The rifle used by marksmen were 7.6s.

The experts on the Dallas Police who found and examined the gun identified it as a 7.65 Mauser. The caliber was stamped on the barrel.

The gun “found” was not even the gun ordered.
