If we have such an overwhelming scientific “consensus” about the supposed threat of catastrophic man-made global warming—and about the political and economic solutions to it—then why do advocates have to sue scientists to prevent them from questioning it? That’s the question raised by a $10 million lawsuit lawsuit filed by Stanford engineering professor Mark Z. Jacobson accusing other scientists of defamation for critiquing his scientific work in favor of “renewal energy.”
That’s not how science works. That’s not how any of this is supposed to work.
Jacobson made a name for himself and became something of a media celebrity for publishing a study in 2015 that claimed the United States could provide 100 percent of its energy needs from wind, solar, and hydroelectric power by 2050—and at a lower cost than with fossil fuels.
It was a ridiculous claim, for reasons I outlined in response to the Obama administration’s now-abandoned “Clean Power Plan” fantasy. It’s not just that wind and solar aren’t reliable sources of energy, requiring massive fossil fuel backup systems or extremely expensive energy storage to compensate when the wind isn’t blowing or the sun isn’t shining.
An attack on free scientific inquiry is already baked into the global warming cause. It is the reigning culture of the scientific establishment on this issue. So don’t be surprised when it produces unhinged zealots who try to use the power of the state or harassment by frivolous lawsuits to subvert the rules of open scientific debate.

Global warming is not science. It is politics. Specifically, it is globalist, statist, authoritarian politics. As such it cannot be held to the same standard as science. It is perfectly appropriate for a warmist to sue for defamation those who oppose him. A scientist would never make such a charge, only a political extremist.

This cross-checker was apparently doing Engineering type work which he erroneously thinks is “science”.
Of course there is no Science of the Climate and likely will never be. Especially given their weak definitions of the system they want to understand well enough to be able to make highly accurate predictions.
Backup storage required. Losses always incurred when transferring power from one medium to another. Losses always incurred in battery systems over time. (Battery doesn’t hold 100% of its charge.) Batteries deteriorate, and need to be replaced. Factor in subsidies.
Bottom line, fossil fuels are the only reliable, low-cost source of energy.
I hope the judge does not throw this one out of court as it actually should be thrown out. I want to see what perversions of libel and slander law can be promoted in court.

When I reported earlier this year on the 58 scientific papers published in 2017 that say global warming is a myth the greenies’ heads exploded.
Since then, that figure has risen to 400 scientific papers.
Can you imagine the misery and consternation and horror this is going to cause in the corrupt, rancid, rent-seeking world of the Climate Industrial Complex?
I can. It will look something like this.
