I would imagine it was an E-2 or E-3 clerk who obviously needed better supervision and training.

Yes, perhaps an E-2 or E-3 clerk....but also possibly a resident Air Force Social Justice Warrior who didn’t want to see the downtrodden further “oppressed”.

The Air Force needs to do a thorough AND NON-CORRUPT investigation of this lapse and it’s cause. And it needs to determine whether there are more lapses. Lives may well depend upon this.

Track down that clerk and bust them down a couple ranks and explain he/she has blood on their lazy hands.

Time to go back through every file for the past 50 years to make sure there aren’t more failures.

“I would imagine it was an E-2 or E-3 clerk who obviously needed better supervision and training.”

I wonder how many people with “creatively spelled” names aren’t found in database searches...

Yesterday I was told at the planning and permitting office that they didn’t have any surveys, just what was on the website. I pressed the issue so the clerk went to her supervisor and verified; no surveys. Turns out they did have surveys, just nobody in the office knew it. I had to call my surveyor, who knew the man who ran the office, to get the surveys that are supposedly public record.

Today I went to the water control office to sign up for connecting to the sewer. The woman at the front desk told me I couldn’t do it. A voice from a nearby office said, “Sure he can.” The other woman came out and provided me with the correct documents.

The only government office I have dealt with where the people knew what to do has been the taxing agencies.
The point of all this is, you can pass laws all you want. But they all come down to a clerk who may not be able to find his/her/its butt crack with

The Air Force record keeping clerks are the lowest of low.

They don’t file anything correctly, unless is is detrimental to you.

That’s why this mess up surprises me.

If you would imagine that, then you need to consider the probabilities and realize that there are hundreds or thousands more like him who got the benefit of some E-2 or E-3’s lack of supervision.

I’m sure whoever it was he or she had plenty of diversity training.

This "better supervision and training" thing has cost way too many lives this year so far. Navy and Air Force...maybe in the other services too, but we haven't heard of other incidents.

Somebody who didn’t take their job as seriously as they should have looks like. I know things get overlooked sometimes but at the moment this makes me angry nonetheless.

Exactly - they put a lot of responsibility and potential for the young ones to screw up some big stff while the "supervisor" gets fat in the break room.

When I retired, there were 2 such "briefing us" and they were giving out some seriously bad info that could have caused some of us problems if we took it at face value. I stopped the briefing, mentioned there seemed to be some bad info and asked them to get their supervisor. They "couldn't find their supervisor" so I asked for the Captain running the section - "couldn't be found" either. Ended up lodging formal complaint with the IG and it got blown off - I guess it's too inconvenient to ensure folks don't get screwed over by untrained typists who haven't a clue....means that others will end up not being identified for bad crap.
