All Seattle Seahawks players stood for the national anthem with arms locked before their game Thursday night against the Arizona Cardinals to honor members of the military. It comes at the start of the NFL's "Salute to Service" weekend in honor of Veterans Day.
Defensive end Michael Bennett, who has sat during the anthem for most of the season to highlight racial and social injustice, said the team did it to make it clear that they support the military and veterans, according to NBC Sports play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico.

I caught the end of the anthem; they had a giant American flag practically covering the field and released an eagle to soar through the air.
How disgustingly patronizing can you get to do this while players "lock arms" like little children who just can't bring themselves to behave? The announcers and this story desperately proclaim the Seahawks are "standing" to "support the military and veterans."
This huge and expensive display of patriotism is just that - a display. It just makes the NFL and it's players look even worse and more idiotic than ever.
They just don't get it. Military and veterans support America.
Hey, NFL -
Only standing respectfully with hand over heart and
no other gestures honors America and the flag.
Doing that is what honors military and veterans. Nothing else, not locking arms, kneeling, etc. By the way, it's too late for the NFL players to do that and make America believe them.

All Seattle Seahawks players stood for the national anthem with arms locked . . . the team did it to make it clear that they support the military and veterans They failed. Anything short of a salute or standing with one hand over your heart is a disrespectful and divisive gesture. These pro-BlackThugsMatter losers disgust me.

They weren’t so stupid as to cut the American flag into the shape of America this time but there’s no way they could fold up that gigantic flag without it hitting the ground - which it did. Now, if they were serious about honoring America that could be overlooked as a mistake but as part of a pretentious display of “paid for” patriotism it just looked bad.

I don't watch the NFL anymore, not even for a minute. Used to be huge fan, 40+ years spent following every season, cheering for my team, loving the rivalry games. And the playoffs and Super Bowl were always on whether we had our team in the game or not. But we've been boycotting for over a year now, and had hopes of maybe going back one day when Jerry Jones said Dallas would not kneel. But then he, of all people, came out and took a knee with them, albeit not during our National Anthem. I wasn't watching but I've seen the pictures and read the stories and I have to say it really did make me feel sick. That was the day the NFL died for me, the day I knew I was no longer boycotting the NFL but had in fact left for good! It was a ridiculous compromise and a total failure in terms of telling the Football world to grow up and act like Americans! Instead they sealed their fate with us. We will never go back! The NFL has lost this American family for good!

I think it’s time for the players to go ‘full thug’ and burn down stadiums like their brothers in Ferguson and Baltimore did.

‘NFL’s “Salute to Service” weekend in honor of Veterans Day.’
If the NFL would simply state this for every game, and fire its employees who kneel during the Anthem, most of its profits would return.

Interesting logic here. If they’re standing to show support for military and veterans, then they are admitting that kneeling and sitting shows disrespect to the same. Of course these dumb jocks won’t be capable of such logical thought.

Agreed. Stand with your hand over your heart or I’m not watching (which I didn’t). Protest on your own time, not at a football game.
To: \/\/ayne
Well now, that’s mighty white of them.
