Former colleague of Roy Moore reveals that 'everyone knew he dated high school girls...

Full-title: "Former colleague of Roy Moore reveals that 'everyone knew he dated high school girls, and thought it was weird' as he continues to deny claims as a 'politically motivated attack' on his character."

A former colleague of embattled Alabama Republican Senate Nominee Roy Moore said on Saturday that it was open secret the former judge dated high school girls during the 1980s.

Teresa Jones, who worked with Moore as a deputy district attorney for Etowah County, Ala., from 1982 until 1985, said that it was 'common knowledge' the controversial politician allegedly preferred younger women.

'It was common knowledge that Roy Moore dated high school girls, everyone we knew thought it was weird,' Jones told CNN. 'We wondered why someone his age would hang out at high school football games and the mall ... but you really wouldn't say anything to someone like that.'

Moore has been mired in scandal since the Washington Post reported on Thursday that he had inappropriately touched a 14-year-old girl when he was in his early 30s. The Post also alleges that he pursued sexual relationships with a 16-year-old girl and two 18-year-old females during a stretch in the 1970s.

The age of consent in Alabama is 16 years of age.

Moore, 70, vehemently denies the allegations, saying that he believes the timing of the accusations are aimed at undermining his candidacy. 'In the next few days there will be revelations about the motivation and the content of this article,' Moore said during a Birmingham campaign rally on Saturday.

> “... if Moore had done this ...”

Take it easy on Conway. She stated a conditional, a conditional that will never be proved, and she said it should not be done through the press. The only recourse is via courts for statutory rape; won’t happen.

Send Conway a contrapositive Tweet asking her to state “If he never did this, he should follow his instincts which appears to remain in the race.”

Moore has already said it’s a false story.

The story is over.

Now if we want something truly worth getting angry about, it would be this Obama appointed half-wit feminist judge in Nevada who won’t allow the release of Clive Bundy who harmed zero people, contrasting that to the release of a deserter named Bergdahl who caused the death of six soldiers. Now that is something to get mightily pissed about.

My point is, there’s a difference between the terminology ‘younger women’ and ‘high-schoolers/underage’.

Words mean a lot. Are they backing away from the former claims and now want to call them ‘younger women’? If so, that’s a difference.

As a female who was a teen in the mid-70s it was considered in appropriate. Many females here have agreed. As a mother, the most I would have tolerated in terms of dating age span for my daughter as a teenager was about 2 years.

Not saying Moore had any intention of taking advantage. But IMHO it looks bad, and I find it tiring that people defend it...

Maybe it was OK in the 70s in rural Alabama, but Gadsden was not rural, it is County Seat and had over 50,000 people living there then. Moore was a West Point Grad and practicing professional—not an Appalachian hillbilly. It was not wise then, not wise now. And if my single son who is now 32 was looking for 17-18 year old girls to dates, I would not be particularly happy or encouraging it.

In my circles in the 70s and now, it would totally inappropriate for a man 15 years older to date a 17 year old. Also inappropriate for them to have dated my 17-year old daughter. Frankly my parents would have thought a suitor that old was trying to take advantage of me in the 70s (younger tried...), & I would have thought the same for my daughter in the 2000s.

As people age, the span is less important, but as teens there is a world of difference and frankly many 17-year olds go thought a lot of changes between 17 and 32.

Not saying he did anything illegal or that it should be held against him 40 years later, I just don’t think the behavior should be defended as common or appropriate.

Guess we will agree to disagree

“Three other good conservative candidates could have beaten McKaskill.”

The Dems would have “found” or invented something about each of them.

My daughter was 21 and she dated a 31 year old guy. My daughter was in college and just getting her act together. The guy was a nice earnest guy, but he just could not get his shit together. Holding my tongue was tough.

I thought that most 31 year olds would not find much in common with a 21 year old.

Thankfully she realized he was a dope.

I'll say this much...

Hindsight is 20/20. Knowing what we know now, how bad a trade would it have been if disgruntled Republicans supported Allison Grimes over Mitch McConnell in 2014?

Even then, the "cost us a reliable seat" argument was powerful.

I know there are a million stories of successful 12-15 year differences in age. But if you are thirty, how do you go about even speaking to a 14 year old girl in the late 70’s? Where would you find one?

I was in my 20’s at the same time. There was no shortage of nice same age girls in my town. Hanging around kids that old at that time would have been tedious. The culture was so much different back then.

On its face, I think it’s creepy. But...this is up to Alabama voters. I would have a few questions for him.

Well young females that chase older guys have a nickname:

Gerbil

An underage girl who flirts or actively hunts for older partners for either meaningless sexual relationships or meaningful relationships. The opposite of Cougar.

Don’t even look at her, she is a Gerbil and dating her would be illegal.

He went to West Point?

That answers the question then. As a graduate of a military school at the same time, I can assure you that when he went home he was a fish way out of water. There were strong anti-military vibes. Even in patriotic Alabama. I can also assure you that his social skills would have been significantly less honed than a peer going to a normal school.

I am not saying he was a jerk or anything else. I am saying that in the social environment he was living in at college, he would have a tougher time with women in his peer group. Once exposed to the world, he would catch up quickly and within 5 years he would pretty much command every room he entered.

I called him creepy in earlier posts. Now that I realized where he was coming from, I think awkward is more accurate.

In the next few years, the left will attempt to mainstream pedophilia. It is the next social issue on their agenda.

But they need to destroy Moore first.

What? You would rather lose the seat? And therein lies the problem. Losing the seat is really giving up. If you don’t see that the possibility of Schumer taking over and the Dems taking over every committee is not the worst possible outcome, we have nothing further to discuss. Politics is the art of the possible and we don’t always get what we want. We try to get as much as we can.

Bill Clinton had an open affair with a girl under 21. As I recall the dems all said it’s just sex has nothing to do with politics

That said Moore has been married faithfully for over thirty years

We have friends whose daughter, after college, worked for, and then dated her boss, 20+ years her senior. When Mom cautioned her about the age difference, she replied, “I will consider it an honor if I some day push the wheelchair of the man I love.” They are married 30+ years, and going strong.

You make very good points. But I don’t think Moore will lose.

The enemy seeks to discourage any future swamp drainers from running. They’re fighting the long war.

He graduated West Point in ‘69. Went to law school in ‘74. Who has time to date in law school LOL...Apparently he did, and I would agree that he was likely awkward.

Someone did Freepmail me and propose that perhaps the 17- and 18-year olds thought he would be a great catch and were courting him...Could be.

My point is regardless, it was not appropriate though not illegal. It may have been common in rural counties, but Gadsden with a population of over 50,000 and County Seat, was not rural. I just wish he had said youthful stupidity...not defending it as common and appropriate...

Sheesh someone put up a picture of Jerry Lee Lewis with his 13-yearold first cousin once removed and said what’s the problem...Well, apparently the problem was big enough that it tanked his career.

Don’t think this should tank Moore’s career, and confessions were obviously politically motivated and timed, but I cannot see defending them as appropriate even tho they were not illegal.

LOL yup not a lot in common.

After WWII, my dad went to college and met and married my mom—He was an older student...she was 8 years younger, though in her mid twenties. There were many times my mom felt like my dad did not understand things or like things she liked as he was older and in her opinion, of a different generation—tho there were many wives in that situation at the time...

At least by age 21, girls have been around the block a few times and not likely to be taken advantage of...Like you, I would wonder why is he interested in my daughter, and I would have had to have gone in in for stitches on my tongue for biting it so hard LOL

As a mom, I would not have been pleased to have dearest daughter bring home a 30+ year old when she was 16 or 17—neither would my father have been pleased had I done the same—and that is an understatement as he had a shotgun filled with rock salt at the ready for such occasions though thank heaven, I never put him to the test ;)
