A former colleague of embattled Alabama Republican Senate Nominee Roy Moore said on Saturday that it was open secret the former judge dated high school girls during the 1980s.
Teresa Jones, who worked with Moore as a deputy district attorney for Etowah County, Ala., from 1982 until 1985, said that it was 'common knowledge' the controversial politician allegedly preferred younger women.
'It was common knowledge that Roy Moore dated high school girls, everyone we knew thought it was weird,' Jones told CNN. 'We wondered why someone his age would hang out at high school football games and the mall ... but you really wouldn't say anything to someone like that.'
Moore has been mired in scandal since the Washington Post reported on Thursday that he had inappropriately touched a 14-year-old girl when he was in his early 30s. The Post also alleges that he pursued sexual relationships with a 16-year-old girl and two 18-year-old females during a stretch in the 1970s.
The age of consent in Alabama is 16 years of age.
Moore, 70, vehemently denies the allegations, saying that he believes the timing of the accusations are aimed at undermining his candidacy. 'In the next few days there will be revelations about the motivation and the content of this article,' Moore said during a Birmingham campaign rally on Saturday.

Here’s the deal. The other women all say they went out on a date or two, but only one says they kissed, the 18 year old.
They all dated with parental approval.
The one who claims she was 14 has a history of false abuse claims towards local pastors.
So you have one fruitcake who has lied about him calling her on a phone in her bedroom (her mother says that’s not true) and the three others who were legal age and say nothing bad happened.
Gov appointment is only temporary. Alabama law is special election for vacant seat. Gov screwed up. In April he considered no special election to save state money. In retrospect, that would have been a good move.
I hope you are right. Let’s keep an eye on the polls. You can bet that a bombshell will come election eve that cannot be answered.

All I can say is after raising girls, I cannot imagine any sane man who chooses to be with 14 year old girls. That has to be some of the toughest “girl” years.
I don’t believe the 14 year old or that she was 14. It differs too completely from the benign story the other 3 told.

two months ago before this Roy Moore stuff came out 100% of the people on FR would have destroyed a Democrat or anybody else who at 32 years old was trying to date high schools in the 70’s or 80’s

My point is that 2017 and 1979 are not in the same era. What was acceptable in 1979 may not be tolerated now. I spent 1979 in a bunker at Camp Red Cloud, Korea and now I have a nurse and a housekeeper.
Ditto - but even more, I pray to God that all the evil liars and opportunists don’t manage to stop him from being elected because of 40 year old allegations that just conveniently sat idle until this moment. If they have proof, bring it out but it is more likely there is no way to prove or disprove anything so he gets convicted because some folks with bad histories discovered they can profit from taking down a good man.
I'm glad you find it amusing. There is a difference between a 40 year old man dating a 25 year old woman. Both are adults, both have life experiences to guide them. A 34 year old man dating a 16 year old girl is a lot different. And if you can't see that difference then I'm not sure what I could possibly say that might clarify it for you.
