Roy Moore's penchant for flirting with teen girls was "common knowledge" and "not a big secret" around Gadsden, according to some area residents.
The Senate candidate has denied any wrongdoing in the wake of a report from The Washington Post in which four women accused Moore of inappropriate advances - and in one instance, a sexual encounter - toward them when they were teens and he was in his early 30s.
One of the four women claims she was 14 at the time, making her the only one whose claim would represent a legal violation. Moore has said he never met her. A fifth woman came forward this afternoon.
Moore and other Republican leaders have questioned why it took so long for his accusers, now in their 50s, to come forward publicly.
And yet people who lived in Etowah County during that time have said Moore's flirting with and dating much younger women and girls was no secret.
"These stories have been going around this town for 30 years," said Blake Usry, who grew up in the area and lives in Gadsden. "Nobody could believe they hadn't come out yet."
Usry, a traveling nurse, said he knew several of the girls that Moore tried to flirt with.
"It's not a big secret in this town about Roy Moore," he said. "That's why it's sort of frustrating to watch" the public disbelieve the women who have come forward, he said.

I ask because as long as established wisdom is being flipped over, I've thought about the typical order of the male-female relationship-building business.
A boy does what he can to get as much as he can, meaning that he intentionally angles for what he desires.
It's not that he necesarily lies to the girl, although that happens a lot, just that he simply wants "x" to occur.
However, if the girl decides to go along with what the boy claims he wants, then the usual result is that she proves that she's no good.
Thus it is okay for a boy to want and to pursue, but then reject the ones who go along with it. Oh well, try again.
I know this is the way things *are*, but I find game unsettling, because if a girl knows to say no in order to earn respect, then what kind of a reward is that?
Seems like a booby prize, because that same boy would have tossed her aside if she fell in his trap. Traps, ugh.
Nothing personal toward you, only that your comment brought these "the way the world goes round" schemes to mind. I suppose somewhere back in the dusty 'old days' that maybe never existed, a boy would simply fall in love with a girl and propose.
I'm a very simple person, so these kinds of things perplex me and confuse me. Too complicated.
As for Roy Moore, maybe he was just simple and sweet, not a weirdo. I hope so anyway. False accusers and women 'suddenly offended' 40 years later are 1000x worse than anything they've accused this man of.

Where were all these accusers during the primary? Or where were all these accusers 40 plus years ago while he’s been in public service? Why now all of a sudden do all these accusers come crawling out of the damn wood work?

I will confess I don’t know much about what judge Moore did 40 years ago. I do however know what a political smear job looks like. This is a disqualifying smear job happening today. For crying out loud Gloria alred is involved. The only thing that new Yorker article didn’t have was Donna Brazil lighting a candle and listening to Gospel music. Wakeup and smell the bs people

If this much was known about it, is anyone saying that marriage stopped him from this behavior? Did he take it online? The perv that got me stayed with it after marriage and kids and even started molesting MUCH younger girls, down to preschool age. Can it be that he spent all his free time scouting for young girls to mess with, but stopped this huge compulsion when he met or married his wife?

For god’s sake, GLORIA ALLRED is involved? That should be enough to prove Moore’s innocence. She trotted out another bimbo today. Anyone who is associated with that hag is automatically a liar and a criminal.
I stated this on another thread, and I will state it again: Alabamians WILL NOT allow the elites to interfere in our election and decide whom our Senator will be. Understand? We are incredibly angry and we can’t wait to go to the polls and give the elites the finger.
The Republican Party can burn in the deepest pits of Hell. My hatred of them burns brighter every day. I will celebrate with a bottle of champagne when the GOP finally dies. They have gone too far this time.
