Spirituality enables people to see more within the world and within others. It’s no surprise that this leads to a greater sense of fulfillment. A new survey from the Public Religion Research Institute has found that higher levels of spirituality are strongly correlated with higher life satisfaction.
As a person of faith, my experience with organized religion has ebbed and flowed throughout my life. Yet I have always appreciated how spiritualities across a variety of traditions animate expansive visions and compassionate ethics. Even as the religious landscape in the United States rapidly changes, the importance of spirituality won’t necessarily go away. Now, there’s more evidence to flesh this out.
PRRI and Florida State University have jointly conducted a national survey that measures spirituality by self-reported experiences of being connected to something larger than oneself, and religiosity by frequency of religious attendance and the personal importance of religion. By making this distinction, they’re able shed more light on the phenomenon of “spiritual but not religious” Americans.

Belief allows people to tune out anxiety-causing questions that cannot be answered anyway, and focus instead on the smaller issues that CAN be addressed and that in turn lead to better life satisfaction when they are handled well. - babble-on
One attribute of spirituality is that one is unable to understand any level of spiritual consciousness above that which they exist.
It’s like a toddler explaining what it is like to be an adult.
Enlightenment is not the tree realizing it exists within the forest. Enlightenment is the tree growing to realize that it is the forest.
Spiritual enlightenment is not a person realizing that they are a part of a greater consciousness, it is growing to become one with that consciousness.
When Jesus came out of the dark night of the soul, His words were “My Father and I are One.” This is also why Buddha explained that He was “One with Everything.”
This is further explained by Jesus in John 14
11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; ............
you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. (this is what communion is all about)
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me,” Jesus says.
