...public schools teach children that they must be in a classroom with an instructor to learn. This predicated the snowflake crisis in our universities, where young people feel triggered by diverse ideas. They only know what theyve been taught, and cannot think for themselves, so anything that challenges their worldview is perceived as hostile, and they lose their self-confidence and self-control. What homeschooling program do you use? My daughter is researching these.
A great place to start with how to provide a rigorous education at home is Susan Wise Bauer’s The Well Trained Mind. It is a how to manual and includes lots of curriculum suggestions. The book is available at most libraries.
I use a mishmash of different programs. But for the things I mentioned, I use Mr. D Math (he teaches at our co-op but it is available as an online class), Notgrass for history/civics, and Art of Argument and Discovery of Deduction from Classical Academic Press for logic.
You can always freep mail me with any questions - I’m always happy to talk about homeschooling
Thanks for the info!
She had a great radio show! I was hoping maybe she still had a show and I just could no longer hear it locally.
