There's a consensus aborning: There should be zero tolerance for sexual harassment, exploitation and violence of any kind. Enthusiasm for the new dawn varies widely. Some think it's a great feminist or moral awakening. Others see an era of witch hunts, prudery and weaponized politics in our future.
Put me down for all of the above.
As a conservative, this seems natural to me. Almost every good thing comes with a downside, and virtually every bad thing comes with an upside.
We've seen cultural, political and religious awakenings before. The abolition movement also brought with it John Brown. Prohibition had some positive (though hotly debated) effects on public health, and the temperance movement helped pave the way for women's suffrage. Anti-communism was a good thing in my book, but no one can honestly dispute that it had its unfortunate excesses.
Whenever popular passion swamps politics, true-believing zealots and opportunistic demagogues will exploit that passion. The zealots will overreach. The demagogues will demagogue using a good cause to destroy political enemies and defend unworthy allies.
Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore is credibly accused by nine women of preying on teenagers, one as young as 14. Harvey Weinstein is credibly accused by at least 50 women of a long list of offenses, including rape. Democratic Sen. Al Franken has been accused by two women of inappropriate advances or groping.
These are just the recent lowlights. A host of prominent journalists as well as Hollywood actors, writers and producers have been accused of varying degrees of misconduct.
We shouldn't stand for any of it. And yet, the severity of our intolerance should run on a spectrum. Rape should put you in jail. Making a pass at a subordinate in the workplace should have consequences. Making one at a bar? It depends.

This just in: the clintoons are no longer dumbocrap royalty; Moore is the senatorial vanguard that will lead to the destruction of the turdle.
Jonah Goldberg: Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore is credibly accused...And John Podhoretz:
John Podhoretz: Moore is credibly accused...No, Moore is being smeared -- including by Goldberg and Podhoretz. Partisan Media Shills alert.
It sure seems like the DNC decided that the word for the week is “credibly” and that everyone should use it.
Which makes me start to assume that everyone who uses the word “credibly” is working with of for the DNC.
Especially since “nothing” being said about Judge Roy Moore is credible.
Jonah is the swamp-dwelling son of a swamp bitch.
Wow, vile creatures such as Jonah Goldberg are really branding themselves as hardcore swamp denizens with their slandering of Judge Moore. Goldberg and many others have finally shed the last vestiges of credibility they may have had.
The funny thing is that Goldberg and his ilk show not the slightest sign of recognition that we no longer believe a word they say or write.
My how soon we forget that it was Bill Clinton that represented the womanizing in the open and it was okay because how he did his personal life didn’t make any difference. How come it does now?

You can find the charges credible and still support the Republican candidate.
Is credibly accused the newest rendition of gravitas? Will we hear it on every so-called news show?
That too -- that is after all what the Demwits are doing with Franken -- but only hypothetically in the case of Moore..
Jonah filled his bong with swamp water!
It'll make it easy to spot the shills.
I used to enjoy reading Goldberg. Now I pass on what I know will be a waste of time and a raising of my blood pressure. Agree that he’s using the week’s buzzword in the hope of bringing down Trump’s agenda. Scum.
NOW gave Bill Clinton a pass because “he supports women’s rights.” Where you stand depends on where you sit.
I know this is a little different, but he has an opposite way of saying he supports women. He has a habit of supporting them to their knees. (To start).
