North Korean soldier’s medical report exposes the regime’s evil
NY Post ^ | Nov 24, 2017 | Post Editorial Board

‘Oh” is all that’s known for the name of the North Korean soldier whose escape to South Korea became a viral video. But we do have a bit more to the story.

Shots hit the 24-year-old five times in the lungs and intestines as he ran to freedom in the heavily guarded border zone. He’s now recovering in intensive care. His stomach contained raw corn kernels — a clear sign of brutal food shortages, though North Korea’s border guards are usually the regime’s most trusted, and favored, troops.

With “more than 20 years of experience as a surgeon,” said Lee Cook-jong, Oh’s chief surgeon, “I have not found parasites this big in the intestines of South Koreans” — or anywhere outside medical textbooks.

The refugee also has tuberculosis and hepatitis B. At 5 feet 5 inches and 130 pounds, he’s much shorter and lighter than the average South Korean his age.

You can see why he’s the third North Korean soldier to defect this year. And why the regime has its forces digging new trenches and planting obstacles to prevent any similar escapes, and reportedly has also switched out the troops that had been on the border.

If this is the shape Korea's elite troops are in imagine the life of a peasant. It also shows why they are so intent on developing a nuclear arsenal. They aren't fit enough to last a week in a conventional war.

I don't know how to stop North Korea's nukes or artillery, but the infantry could be stopped within a few hundred yards of the border with some good buffet lines.

Set up glorious banquets on the edge of the DMZ. A few fans to make sure the aroma reaches the guards. Invite them over.

Sounds like President Trump's 11-year-old son could give the average N. Korean infantryman a run for his money in a fair fight.

Send a fleet of trucks filled with our leftover Turkey

Wait two hours until they go into a Turkey coma.

Waltz in steal their weapons and paint them with lipstick and mascara.

Would be a hoot...

I’m going to predict that this is the beginning of the end for the present North Korean regime. Whether it’s, also, the end of North Koreans living as a communistic dictatorship is another story, entirely, and much more difficult, unfortunately.

“His stomach contained raw corn kernels — a clear sign of brutal food shortages,”

Unless I’m mistaken, I don’t believe corn kernels are broken down very much in the digestive process.

Send them a load of fruit cakes.
They’ll fight over making the other
guy eat the stuff until they die
of starvation.

A full blown BBQ should do the trick.
When I drive though the BBQ restaurants around here with their smokers going, I truly would just like to park there and take deep breaths.
Maybe they should air drop some roasted pigs.

I’ve done a few jobs at sewage treatment plants - you are correct. Corn and tampons. Hmmmm.

Like they say, "When corn goes in on the cob, and comes out on the cob".

Plus if they have all starches, their immune system is shot. It turns into sugar to feed the TB and parasites. Yummy, a vicious cycle.

The thing here that has me wondering is a raw corn kernel being posited as a Nork evildoing. The corn kernel is in the shape I’d expect it to be; it goes right thru the GI tract coming out pretty much looking the same as when it went in.

I’m trying to figure out if it is the “raw” part they found really awful. A lot of people eat raw corn kernels, usually a bunch of ‘em, in fact. They are edible.

Maybe I’m missing something?

There’s no doubt the guy was malnourished and in bad health due to diet, terrible living conditions and bad treatment, but raw corn kernels in & of themselves are not sinister killers.

Young immature corn, yes could reasonably be eaten raw. After corn reaches maturity it hardens and becomes difficult to bite off the cob.

I have never known anyone to do it routinely. The only instances I have ever heard of it being done is stories my mother told me of hobos during the depression stealing corn out of her parent’s fields and eating it as they walked the train tracks next to their fields.

A few older farm folk are the only people I know that have ever said that they have eaten raw corn. And they told me you have to catch the corn at just the right time to make it palatable.

Of course modern hybridized sweet corn probably has a longer ‘sweet spot’ for eating it raw. It would be interesting to know if NORKs have stolen many of our hybridized grain seeds.

The CIA should grab those corn seeds and do DNA test on then to see if they are Monsanto or ADM corn hybrids.

If Kim’s soldiers are this bad off, it seems like they would be susceptible to turning against him. His control levers need to be taken away from him.

I think the “eat raw everything” caveman diet gang would have it that raw. I believe it’s also a thing among some health huts.

There’s also this, a short clip from the 1983 movie “War Games”:
