RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (WFLA) — A gun enthusiast from southern California says he is taking a step to help destroy gun violence.
One of Chad Vachter’s prized possessions was a thousand-dollar AR-15 assault rifle. After seeing the growing number of mass shootings in the country, Vachter said he was fed up and decided to take a hammer to his gun, destroying it.
“I can’t do it,” he said. “I can’t have something in my house that so easily could become a part of another situation like that, and I’m not going to be desensitized to it. I refuse to.”
Last month, 58 people were killed in a mass shooting at an outdoor music festival in Las Vegas. Earlier this month, a gunman opened fire inside a church and left 26 people dead in Sutherland Springs, Texas.
Earlier this week, police say a gunman killed several people during a shooting rampage in several different locations in northern California, including an elementary school. Vachter says the incident hit close to home, and he had enough.

Destroying every gun in the land would not stop the moral disease affecting the nation brought on by leftism, Marxism and communism. Any nation that slaughters tens of millions of the most innocent is thoroughly desensitized to any other murder. Only a complete restoration and awakening will end the violence, not smashing guns.

Ironic that this Californicated loon used a hammer to destroy his semi-automatic rifle. The FBI’s own statistics say that more people are murdered ever year with hammers than with semi-automatic rifles.
As for the mass shootings in Las Vegas, we have been told very little to next to nothing about what really happened there, and as for the Texas church shooting, a good guy with an AR-15 stopped the psycho shooter. So what’s this nutjob Chad Vachter’s point? He must be a publicity seeking crazy.
And of course, the slimy fake news media has to step all over the victims in Sutherland Springs, without any mention that the killer was stopped from escaping (at the very least) by civilians with guns.

In the olden days after 1968, when Bobby Kennedy was murdered, the anti-gun hysteria had people turning in their guns to the police and living in fear of their still armed neighbors.
Only HANDGUNS were considered Evil and must be destroyed. Rifles were just a target of opportunity.
Reminds me of an old 1968 Bill Mauldin cartoon in which a mob is lynching a handgun, while releasing a burglar. He says...”They lynched my gun but let me go!”
In this case he beat his rifle to death with a hammer. Hope he does not need the AR soon. These things have a way of biting you in the butt.
Lots of ar owners have more than one. I bet this was one of his cheapos.
