Trump is one to threaten sanctions instead of offer protection money. But nobody is eager for nuclear war, even though America could turn North Korean and China along with it into a glass sheet. Doing it would be the Himalaya Hilton of last resorts.

Yeah! I say if they think that they can hit DC then just prove it!

There is only so much threatening that the US can do to NK. I think they have become immune to our threats and, if Trump does not watch out, a time will come that it is too late for him to retaliate to a Kim Jung Un nuclear attack.

The gun has been drawn, but the window of opportunity to fire is limited. Even the best gunfighter is aware of it.

As you have so rightly pointed out, it already HAS taken time. A lot of time. Too much time. And also as you have so rightly pointed out, the previous weak-sister POTUS’ have cared less about America’s best interests and more about their own political interests, leaving the job to Trump.

I know this: the counsels of war breed timidity. We are dealing with a rogue state lead by a psycho.

I also know this: there IS an answer here as sure as there is a God in Heaven.

IMO, not doing anything is not an option unless we have proof beyond a reasonable doubt that events inside NK are substantially and quickly turning against this psycho, Kim Jong-un. (Sidenote- either way, we need sharp and accurate intelligence of that sort. Hopefully Trump will get our intelligence capabilities back on track.) In the meantime, barring that, as I said, there are answers, we just have to find them.

I know NK is not impenetrable. Possibly a coordinated strike on all known missiles and WMD’s in the DMZ and elsewhere. Maybe a plot to assist NK freedom fighters to assassinate Kim Jong-un which would take the kind of precise and well-executed intelligence our last four Presidents manged to dismantle.

We (meaning Trump and Mattis) should not be looking at what we can’t do, but what we can do. I’m sure NK is aware of Leftist power and split with Trump and America and I’m sure they are taking full advantage of that. We can and must get smarter than both the Left and Kim Jong-un. I trust the Lord that it will happen soon with minimal casualties.

I fear we have passed the point of no return with the Norks. We should have taken NK out along time ago, before they built up such a devastating artillery next to Seoul. Now what?

Is it possible for 3 carrier groups to take out the installations in a surprise attack? I doubt it. If they the tech to build nukes and now ICBM's, they certainly have the radar (satellites?) to see it coming. There goes thousands of the good people of Seoul.

Maybe I watch too much military type TV shows where Special Operators go in and eliminate the heads of terrorist orgs, but is that a possibility? Does the USA still subscribe to the old doctrine of not assassinating heads of state? Yes I know, NK is an extremely closed nation and could be impossible to infiltrate.

Well, the kenyan ‘did’ say that the U. S. could absorb a nuclear attack.

Hopefully we shoot it down as soon as it is launched and it ends up exploding over Pyongyang.

Many of the high Northern officials who had regular contact with the outside world, including close relatives of the dictator, have been executed. If the North was penatrable before it is less so now. I think that was Kim’s point.

"We will pull out of South Korea militarily and you take
out fat boy and with open US/UN inspections
dismantle their nuclear program."

Don't depend on the communist Chinese to do anything.
They cannot be trusted. I believe all of that Chi-Comm
fawning over Trump during his visit was just a ruse.
The communist Chinese don't care if the Norks have nukes.
And they don't care if the Norks nuke Japan, Guam or the US.

I remember when he said that and was flabbergasted. I shouldn't have been with his "World Apology Tour", but still.

There’s steps ahead of military action that I am not seeing. This is not a US problem,. This is a world problem. Trump needs to build a coalition to deal with NK. He also needs to prepare the American people. I am not seeing any of that.

A surprise US only preemptive military strike on NK will not work for him politically. This Senate would likely just remove him from office. My guess he might consider a covert regime change operation or some sort of blockade. Trump is supposedly a deal maker but there are no deals happening here. Maybe something is happening behind the scenes.

The Kenyan would have enjoyed seeing the US under nuclear attack. He hated this country and everything it stood for. The total picture what the Kenyan stood for has yet to be painted, mark my words.

What was their target?

Could be, but also our intelligence capabilities in the last 28 years have been eviscerated. If we were in top form, I know we could do better that we are doing now.

There is no option IMO - we must find the way to stop this rogue nation and leader and soon.

Accuracy is another matter, but it appears their target was a hole in the ocean.

Assuming a 150kt warhead (their last test) and a 3 mile CEP (easily achievable), an explosion 2,000 ft over San Francisco or Seattle would kill AT LEAST 500,000 in the first few minutes. Taking out cities is easy.

They have demonstrated this capability.

We have to pre-empt it. There is no choice.

Yep. Let’s just sit back and see what’s what — Zero is meeting with Panda Face and will reassure him that the US can absorb a few nuclear hits, no sweat.

http://www.nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/ 150Kt Airburst w/ fallout Estimated fatalities: 268,070 Estimated injuries: 384,840 Effects radii for 150 kiloton airburst* (smallest to largest): ▼ Fireball radius: 450 m (0.64 km²) Maximum size of the nuclear fireball; relevance to lived effects depends on height of detonation. If it touches the ground, the amount of radioactive fallout is significantly increased. Minimum burst height for negligible fallout: 410 m. Air blast radius (20 psi): 1.5 km (7.06 km²) At 20 psi overpressure, heavily built concrete buildings are severely damaged or demolished; fatalities approach 100%. Optimal height of burst to maximize this effect is 0.97 km. Radiation radius (500 rem): 1.94 km (11.8 km²) 500 rem radiation dose; without medical treatment, there can be expected between 50% and 90% mortality from acute effects alone. Dying takes between several hours and several weeks. Air blast radius (5 psi): 3.7 km (43 km²) At 5 psi overpressure, most residential buildings collapse, injuries are universal, fatalities are widespread. Optimal height of burst to maximize this effect is 1.66 km. Thermal radiation radius (3rd degree burns): 5.51 km (95.5 km²) Third degree burns extend throughout the layers of skin, and are often painless because they destroy the pain nerves. They can cause severe scarring or disablement, and can require amputation. 100% probability for 3rd degree burns at this yield is 10.1 cal/cm2. *Detonation altitude: 0 m. Wind blows fallout East toward Oakland

thanks for the cool tool.

“Modeling casualties from a nuclear attack is difficult. These numbers should be seen as evocative, not definitive. Fallout effects are ignored. “

Additionally they automatically set the airburst height at 1,660 meters. Not adjustable.
