Something doesn’t sound right about that whole “locking switch” angle. I can see why someone would want to lock a private office from the inside, but a locking device that trapped someone in the office would seem to be a clear violation of even a half-assed building code.

I'm quite certain that the building code violation was not even a consideration. The purpose of the device was to support predation - I have no doubt that it was against code never even entered their minds.

Well, if you were modifying your office to be your own private sexual assault lair, you probably wouldn’t be too concerned with complying with the building codes.

Yes it would, wouldn’t it, which is why the codes require that access controls be installed and maintained by licensed personnel, with records kept...
