First, Rubio is an idiot and a traitor.

Second, I believe there’s lots of fraud in SSDI, but I dont know how.

I had a pretty serious head injury and I was denied the first time and the medical papers and signatures and testimonies here in NYC needed for the judge to grant it (was on it for 6 years till a finally got well enough to work again) were pretty powerful.

About 2 years after the injury i showed up for court looking like hell and I was still grilled (fairly) about my condition.

He actually threw out the neuropathy part as baseless even though i was in agonizing pain from it. Dont blame it. You can’t prove neuropathy.

But the blinding headaches and trouble walking (at the time) among other things got me the SSDI.

Maybe it depends on where you live.

Obviously better scrutiny is required in SSDisability cases. A competent government should be able to manage it. Whatever costs would pale to the amount of fraud, imho.

People I know who have applied to receive Soc Sec disability have waited years to get this benefit. Countless visits to doctors, countless interviews, shuttles back and forth and endless paperwork to fill out.

I’m sure there are jackasses who get disability, either thru work/state/SS who can work. But I’ve seen more “fakers” where I work (self insured disability) than thru SS. I also realize this has to do w/ the type of people I come in contact with/know.

When I broke my leg and had to have an operation, our loss control person wanted to know how long I would be off work. I said I wasn’t taking any time off. She was stunned. She said “you know, everyone takes at least 5 days off”. Self insured system allows for a bit of ‘cheating’. I declined to partake.

Unless you have a catastrophic illness like terminal cancer or end stage kidney failure, they almost always reject the first request. Wish I’d known that when my father was denied many years ago after a heart attack that left him with a little over half a functioning heart. They had to use up quite a bit of their savings until he reach the age of 62, three years later.
