A former top counterintelligence expert at the FBI, now at the center of a political uproar for exchanging private messages that appeared to mock President Donald Trump, changed a key phrase in former FBI Director James Comey's description of how former secretary of state Hillary Clinton handled classified information, according to US officials familiar with the matter.
Electronic records show Peter Strzok, who led the investigation of Hillary Clinton's private email server as the No. 2 official in the counterintelligence division, changed Comey's earlier draft language describing Clinton's actions as "grossly negligent" to "extremely careless," the source said.
The drafting process was a team effort, CNN is told, with a handful of people reviewing the language as edits were made, according to another US official familiar with the matter.
The shift from "grossly negligent" to "extremely careless," which may appear pedestrian at first glance, reflected a decision by the FBI that could have had potentially significant legal implications, as the federal law governing the mishandling of classified material establishes criminal penalties for "gross negligence."
Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, raised questions over why the change was made after receiving documents from the FBI last month, but the identity of who was behind the edit has not been reported until now.

CNN’s reporting on the Trump-Russia dossier has left out at least one crucial fact: the close ties between the network and the opposition research firm at the center of the dossier controversy.
CNN’s reporting on the dossier, led by justice correspondent Evan Perez, has been favorable to the firm, Fusion GPS, and hyped the dossier’s credibility. Left out of Perez’s reporting, which has relied largely on unnamed sources, is his personal closeness to Fusion GPS’ operatives. Fusion has repeatedly been described in Senate testimonies as a smear-for-hire operation that manufactures misleading or false media narratives for its clients.
Glenn Simpson, the Fusion co-founder most often associated with the dossier, is used to working on stories with Perez. As reporters at The Wall Street Journal, Perez and Simpson regularly co-authored stories on national security.
Another Fusion founder, Tom Catan, worked as a reporter for the Journal at the same time as Perez and Simpson. The third Fusion co-founder, Peter Fritsch, worked above Perez and Simpson as the senior national security

Strzok appears to be a primary “fixer” in the FBI for the Deep State’s governance.

Takeaway would appear to be that the FBI falls below Fusion GPS in the hierarchy of importance as far as avoiding discovery, so throw Stryzok to the wolves.

This was a massively important presentation for Comey. It wouldn’t be unusual to pass an address of such magnitude around to his most trusted confidants, by way of soliciting feedback. Do you remember how Reagan passed his Berlin Wall speech around to his most trusted aids? They kept deleting, “tear down this wall,” — and Reagan kept putting it back in.

Hmmm....what if we're about to learn that Strzok was in contact with the Clinton campaign? He would have been the agent that allowed the DNC to hire CrowdStrike to examine the allegedly hacked servers, and not submit them to FBI forensic examination, no?
I am seeing the WHOLE government and anything connected to it.. is and was corrupt to the core! Dangerously corrupt and dangerously deep/widespread.
It’s no wonder they all are panicking and hillary gone off the deep end that night and still is... they all knew this... and they all thought hillary was going to win the election. She thought she had it won and carried out a weak campaign... it was in her bag.
NO ONE ... and I do mean NO ONE, on their side of the aisle and in the media, thought the man, Trump.. who spoke embarrassingly off the cuff and did not have the crease in his pants ... he could not win.. he was too far out there on a limb. They didn’t worry about this rude and bold Trump.
Then they sat open mouthed .. shocked... the night of the election as the numbers came in late that night. One by one, they counted off the states that went for Trump.. not believing there were that many deplorable, dumb, red necks that could give him all the states he needed to be President of the United States!
So here the results were in and hillary was not President. What in the world were they going to do with all the things they had controlled and managed for years... gathering fortunes... selling out the country for their $$$ and power. The public did not know the extent of the corruption... but bill and hillary knew... so did obama.. so did the justice dept.. so did the FBI.. so did congress ... so did every department in the country.. so did the media.. so did everyone but the public.
However the public was sick and tired of all that we DID see and DID know was going on... and we woke up.. our prayers were heard.. and we had an outsider.. someone who could change the bad to good...
But they were out for him.. they wanted their power back.. they did not want us to know what they had been doing ... they did not want us to know and take it from their dirty hands...
So here we are... they are still trying to impeach Trump.. they still hate him for taking away their sacred cow ... they never imagined President Trump... and it’s hells bells from the most corrupt whole cabang that ever sat in Washington.

No! Yes the headquarters office has a number of appointees who are beholden to he who appointed them, have been bad actors and apparently a few agents elevated by the appointed, who have been corrupted.
But the field offices throughout the country where career agents work continue their work. Outside of Washington, I believe the FBI is the agency we have always respected. I think eventually we will learn that Obama and his goons contaminated, one way or another, every government agency. But IMO, in this agency, rot is all among the directors and their staffs.

Could be Grassley's office. He was the one that wanted more information on the edits in the draft statements exonerating Hillary.
