Basically they have the system in place with a few tweaks of the data programming, imo.
The biggest problem would be to find out where these people are located now. I read
this as they have meld into the population and aren’t keeping the Visa group appraised.
So it becomes a search function to try and find them.
Yes, that would be a problem. If they would be considered as an illegal immigrant from a tracking standpoint, they they would be in the system and eventually would be nailed. At least we could make 'em look over their shoulder.
Or, if at the time they were issued a visa, they were told they would be entered into the system after expiry date, with associated penalties, maybe that would encourage them to leave on time.
I’m not an expert in the field by any stretch so I really don’t know how much
emphasis is placed upon trying to find them. I stumbled across this problem
while searching topics on illegals. It surprised me but in thinking about it I
can see how it occurred and is continues to occur.
I think there was a system like that in place at one time...
I IMMIGRATED here in 1971...
Shortly after I arrived I met an Irish girl who admitted to me she had come on a visitors visa but just stayed and never returned to Ireland...
She was connected to the IRA and had to hide from authorities because she was now an illegal alien...
she must have been in the system for the INS to even know she was here at all...
Just having a visa would have put her in some type of system back then...
I don’t know how they kept up with visa overstays though...
