I may be misremembering, but I think NK has wanted direct talks with the US for the last fifty years. The US has refused to talk directly without SK and China being present as it would appear to legitimize the NK regime. So now NK gets it for free, as a reward for breaking every accord that tried to restrict their nuclear development. Or maybe I’m in error. It won’t be the first time. Anyone remember differently?
