Tammy Bruce: Republican Establishment Wants To Lose Senate Majority So Trump's Agenda Fails
Real Clear Politics ^ | December 12, 2017 | Ian Schwatz

Conservative commentator Tammy Bruce, in a discussion about Alabama Republican candidate for Senate Roy Moore, said the Republican establishment want the party to lose the majority in the Senate so the Trump agenda fails. Bruce cited Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL), who announced he did not vote for Moore, and Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), who donated to the Democratic candidate Doug Jones, as examples.

"This is a test for the president," Bruce said Tuesday on FOX News' Hannity. "I think what you've seen with Shelby going against it. Jeff Flake, giving money to this guy. I think the Republicans in the Senate want to lose the Senate. I think they want the president's agenda to fail and the only way to really achieve that is to suddenly become the minority."

I have a greater chance of one day attending an NFL game or buying anything from Target, than I ever do of giving money to the Republican Party.

Shelby should be ashamed of himself. He may not like Moore, but did he really want an abortion loving liberal to represent Alabama? Is he insane?

She is 100% spot on. I agree with her and so do several others, here, too. They would willingly give up majority to sit back and let Trump...and the millions who voted for him....suffer/fail.

So true !

When I was younger I would write to my congressman expressing my concerns, and asking what his position was on various issues.

Never, never, never did I get a reply other than a form letter. Blah, blah, "thank you for sharing your thoughts" blah, blah. After a couple decades I wised up and realized it was a waste of time.

Although once I made the mistake of sending an email, and although my concerns were never addressed, I still get his emails: "helpful household energy saving tips", "are your pets vaccinated?", "happy veterans' day!", and best of all "wishing you and your family the best wishes for a Holiday Season". Holiday Season, yeah. That's what we celebrate in this household — NOT.

Unfortunately he still has 4 years before running. I think the only reason Ryan is so gung ho for passing legislation is he is up for running in 2018.

It’s been obvious since they cleared the utterly depraved Clinton to keep running the country and in every boneheaded move they’ve made before or since including throwing the election to a foreign born interloper twice

If the republicans are in the majority they have to put into place the items they run on. After they do that what do they run on? They have no ideals and they until trump could win elections on just running. Graham and McCain had their state elections rigged. They don’t need conservative bases.

Cantor couldn’t get that figured out

If they really win they have to get rid of legal abortion. Where’s the money and power in that for them?
Trump has to get ahead of them

Heads, they win; tails, we lose. That’s the reality of UniParty rule. They are all in it together, against us.

I’m not going to attach Roy Moore to this - he was a terrible candidate even without the allegations - he gained no more support than he had in the primaries based on the apparent monumentally low turnout of Republicans.

However, I have been saying this for awhile there are elements who would rather lose or just break even in order “prove a point” that pursuing conservative policies is bad and “destroying the party” we need to “reach across the isle” and counter President Trump, and empower figures in the party like Jeff Flake and Bob Corker to say “I told you so!” This is why we need a landslide victory with every Republican possible winning - regardless if they deserve it or not. Only a landslide victory will shut this narrative up - not to mention the numerous media / Dem narratives such as Russia, etc.

Republicans need to have a landslide victory they apparently neither want nor deserve...ironically it would be a defeat for those elements within the establishment for them to win.

Send them home. Name names and start the campaign to defeat them now regardless of how long is left in their terms. Sewer dwellers out for themselves.

I was making this observation to my wife last night after the Alabama debacle. The Swamp is only concerned with the Swamp and holding its power.
