This is the Democraps trying to hide their history. I say let them stand and let’s add a statue of Robert Byrd filibustering the Civil rights act as well.

At least the Taliban works in daylight when they erase history.

More from the article about how the sneaky bastards were able to skirt Tennessee's Heritage Protection Act of 2017 which states...

“No statue, monument, memorial, nameplate, or plaque” erected “on public property” in honor of certain military conflicts and their heroes may be removed without the permission of two-thirds of the board of the commission.

In October, the commission denied Memphis a waiver which would have allowed the city to remove the Confederate statues. The city was challenging the decision in court.

Focusing on the law’s key phrase, protecting statues on “public property,” Shelby County Commissioner Van Turner and others set up a private nonprofit corporation called Memphis Greenspace, Inc.

On Wednesday, without fanfare, the City Council approved a measure authorizing the mayor to sell the two parks with the statues to the private group, for $1,000 each, which he promptly did.

So the park went from being public to private.

I'd like to know where the mayor gets the right to see two city parks to a private group.

Memphis has been lost for years. It might as well be part of Africa.

Think of it as affirmative action in action.

I wonder if any of the idiots in Memphis city government even know that Jefferson Davis was a Memphian for a time after the war. I mentioned this to a young columnist who was a cheerleader for removing the statues. He had no idea.

I hope it doesn’t a hundred and forty years to officially disavow some of the Memphians around today. I’d start with Willie Herenton, the entire Ford clan, and the Commerical Appeal editorial section.

If Forrest and Davis could speak from the grave, they’d ask for their graves and memorials to be removed for that cesspool known as Memphis.

Very few Southern men today care about their heritage. They care more about the Middle East than they care about the South. They care about football more than anything.

Oh well, Memphis is going to fall into the Mississippi River and sink with the next New Madrid quake anyway.

They do it this way so someone else can’t buy the statue and place it elsewhere on private land

They’ll likely hide it and extort with it

Memphis to Jefferson Davis: ‘Na na na na, hey, hey, goodbye’
It was a surprise maneuver that left the Sons of Confederate Veterans sputtering in anger and proclaiming to all who would listen

The Washington Post is such a joke. This is BuzzFeed-tier writing, with their palpable gloating coming right through too.
