Papa Johns founder John Schnatter will step down as CEO following an intense backlash sparked by his criticism of NFL players protesting the National Anthem. The companys president, Steve Ritchie, will take over as CEO.
Business Insider reports:
Schnatter sparked controversy in November when he slammed NFL leadership over the ongoing national anthem protests.
Leadership starts at the top, and this is an example of poor leadership, CEO John Schnatter said in a call with investors. [ ]
Schnatter owns roughly 25% of Papa Johns, and will stay on as chairman after stepping down as CEO in January. According to a press release from the company, he will pursue his personal passion for entrepreneurship, leadership development and education. [ ]
Schnatter has moved away from public political discussions following the Obamacare controversy. The CEO donated $1,000 to President Trumps campaign but did not make any effort to publicly support the politician.

I’m no Don McLean but I’m singing “Bye, Bye, Papa John’s Pizza Pies”.
Stupidity and cowardice cost, Ritchie.
Mr. Schnatter had guts to call out the stupidity of the NFL and its cowardice. Now you oust him for speaking the truth.
Eat your own damned pizzas Mr. Ritchie. My combined families won’t, ever again.
[Why are leftists named Ritchie/Rich such aholes? The Secy of State of Minnesota is a Ritchie and he’s a friend of the Communist Party of Minnesota/Minneapolis. And Clinton’s criminal pal Mark Rich got a pardon despite being a highclass criminal].
I’m off to Dominoes. Pizza Hut changed their sauce’s flavor and it’s not as good as it used to be. I guess using roadkill for flavoring didn’t work out too good.
#18. I worked on a Mafia case that included “Jimmy Three Fingers”. Would that work as the name of a Sushi Bar?
Ridiculous decision. He probably represents the majority of Americans—who buy pizza, btw; I predict a big downturn in Papa John’s’ sales, if their customers are aware of this.
You are exactly right. He is a breath of fresh air.
Papa’s is pretty good, but we never buy it anyway because there are some in my family that don’t like it.
If I was a customer, I would stop being one.
Hope Mr. Schnatter starts a new chain and runs his old one out of business.
Nationwide is on your side.
He needs to go out and form another company.

He and Conservative Herman Cain could partner up and do that. Herman was head of a pizza chain, too.
F*** the NFL, and all the kneeling p*ssies.
Whatever John Schnatter decides to do, I’ll support.
I took that quote from John to be referring to the NFL Commissioner Goodell, who should have shut down the kneeling quickly.

Benihana’s would be more appropriate.
I guess you don’t enjoy many good dinners. :-(
No purchases in this household of Papa John’s.
Wonder what Peyton Manning is thinking about now???
Time to sell and then either tell them they need to change the name or pay a huge royalty to continue to use his name.....
The NFL is not only self destructing, it’s taking its associates with it.
I eat maybe a couple of pieces of pizza once a year. I enjoy other real Italian food, venison (always a couple in the freezer I shoot off my place), I raise beef, apples and peaches, and garden veggies. It’s a wonderful life at times. Merry Christmas
There is more to this issue than is being told. My eldest manages a Papa John’s. It was a failing store when he took it over, turned it around and started making profits, and they were looking at making him District manager.
1 yr later, he can’t get a thing fixed 1 oven is down, fridge goes out, Electric wiring a issue, checks bounce, not even the bank they are drawn on will cash the employees checks, He has to pay them from the cash register now. There are some higher up managerial issues that are affecting business, this ‘lack of sales because of the NFL boycott’ is a false flag. He is putting in 60-70 hrs a week as he can’t keep employees he can’t cash a pay check for.
Papa Johns lost me when I found out Jerry Jones owned 90 franchises. Jerry was using that relationship with Schlatter, using him as his megaphone in his tiff with Goodell.
O/T, I love your handle...Hollywood Knights is a classic, a springboard for at least a half dozen future stars.
Papa Johns - Proud enabler of America’s anti-patriot movement.
He could network, find a healthier franchisee group, sky's the limit.
Still a lot of territory left in TN; some of the smart franchisee groups will "buy" (finance) a DM or even a top-performing manager their own store after a certain number of years.
make sure you don’t drown your pizza with sauce though. just a light “skim” coat as they say in drywalling world.
