President Donald Trump attacked FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe amid news of his impending retirement in a series of Saturday tweets.
Trump made reference to hundreds of thousands of Clinton-allied fundraising dollars spent on behalf of McCabes wife during a race for the Virginia state Senate in 2015. McCabe later played a key role in the FBI investigation of Hillary Clintons private email server, which did not result in a criminal charge. He recused himself from that investigation only after reports of the financial ties between his wife and Clinton-linked groups became public.
McCabe is reportedly waiting a few months to retire from the FBI in order to accrue full lifetime pension benefits, much to the apparent ire of Trump. Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley recently called for McCabes removal, saying he ought to go for reasons of being involved in some of the things that took place in the previous administration. We want to make sure that theres not undue political influence within the FBI.
The president then made reference to the recent reassignment of top FBI lawyer James Baker who served at the helm of the bureau for nearly 25 years. Baker was possibly linked in recent days as a source to a reporter for left-wing news organization Mother Jones.
it IS sedition...
Trump knew this was coming all along. He is just having some fun. No surprise to him.
Trump only takes power naps!
My money says Flynn never left serving our nation, is in fact digging out the deep state rats. Interesting that Flynns immunity is only for while he worked under Obama-lama-ding-dong.
$700,000?! For a STATE Senate campaign?! From one source?! Not even the attempt at subtlety.
The leaks coming from Muellers team are burning down the house.
Not if he is now aiding in the investigation. You keep him employed, hold his pension over his head along with jail time. Mueller appears to be the attack dog we all thought he was.
That needs to be done to send the message to the next layer of FBI management, that political activity within the bureau will be dealt with harshly. A lost pension will send just that kind of message.
If Mcabe does not end up in prison then the entire justice system has failed again.
Stripping him of his pension and benefits would be a start.
....Trump can only do what the Civil Service Laws (enacted by DEMOCRAT JFK) says he can do. Period. Otherwise “IMPEACH TRUMP! IMPEACH TRUMP!”
When is Trump going to understand he really can fire people in the Executive branch?
Ah, meddle
According to Jeff Sessions the other day, there are quote “innocent explanations” when things like this get reported about the FBI.
I didn’t believe him then, either.
From what I’ve read, the President can directly fire positions that are “appointed” by the President, of which there are many in the Executive Branch. McCabe’s just doesn’t happen to be one of them.
However I’d be willing to bet that’s just some sort of departmental policy that Trump could overrule if he really tried. Might take more than 90 days though knowing the government.
He aint helping. Hes pulling the Clinton deny deny Denny routine
Remember, this is “droll” humor by Trump. Kind of getting in a final dig before McCabe gets shown the door. McCabe should be fired and should be denied his pension. Same for Yates, Strzok, Page, and Lois Lerner, Comey and anyone else involved in this whole mess.
Let them suffer a crappy/poor retirement.
“Why doesn’t Trump just fire him? “
Because he’s learned that “stepping in $hit only makes it stink all the more!” My bet is that he will do nothing to perturb the whole Mueller “investigation,” until it’s over and done with. Then, you will see the bloodletting, and I would not be surprised if he starts with Sessions.
“Screw his retirement benefits. Fire him now and try him for his crimes”
Right you are! I don’t know why everyone wants something done to McCabe before he retires. Well know that ain’t gonna happen. But just because he’s retired, doesn’t absolve him of any criminal activity for which he may be responsible. Ditto for Lois Lerner. Until she’s dead or some statute of limitations runs out, she can be tried too. That’s why she’s been trying to get her testimony sealed by a court.
And then on to IRS. At the least, Lois Lerner should lose her pension. And she just might!
Agreed
