Its the day after Christmas and millions of Americans across the lower 48 states have experienced temperatures at or below freezing.
Tuesday morning saw low temperatures across the continental U.S., according to Weather.us meteorologist Ryan Maue. Millions of Americans already experienced a white Christmas Day, including Erie, Pennsylvania where they got a record 53 inches of snow over a two-day period
Ryan Maue | weather.us ✔ @RyanMaue Tuesday morning (Dec 26) the avg temperature across Lower 48 was 18°F. 75% at/below freezing 20% at/below 0°F Coldest snapshot of day at 8:15 AM EST 2:15 PM - Dec 26, 2017
From coast to coast, families saw snowfall starting on Christmas Eve. For example, downtown Portland, Oregon saw snow for the sixth time since 1884. Maine got 15 inches of snow during a snowstorm, and New Hampshire saw about one foot, according to ABC News.
And its not over yet!
Weather forecasts show more snow for the Northeast and Great Lakes area in the coming days. Western New York can expect up to 5 feet of snow this week thanks lake effect!
News Flash to libs: It gets cold in the winter.
January? Cold? Northeastern United States?
Who wouldda thunk it!
Damn. Don’t you just hate it when gloBULL warming causes all these freezing temperatures around the country?
Freezing temperatures caused by liberals frozen stiff by President Trump and his good deeds. So much for global warming, guess no one figured on Earth, Sun ... and President Trump’s actions.
I live in the Florida Panhandle and it got down officially to 31 last night. That is not that unusual here. There was a solid coating of frost on the grass so it might have been a degree or two colder at my house.
They need to train their headline writers.
Here’s what is needed if you want to move up in the media:
25% of America swelters under global warming. Minorities in South Florida, the Rio Grande Valley and Hawaii hardest hit.
About 50 years ago, while a proud member of the United States Army Reserve,my unit did a summer camp at Camp Drum.NY...back when its main use was for summer training for the National Guard and Reserves.
While there I got talking to a Regular Army 1LT who "wintered over" at Drum the previous winter. He said that they didn't bother plowing many parts of the installation because of its status and that the buildings in those areas were entirely buried in snow by the end of the winter.
Today, the high in Calgary was -21°C (-5°F). The temperature is not supposed to break 0°F until New Year’s Day. The temperature is not supposed to rise to the freezing pointvuntil next Thursday, January 4. It is a season called winter.
There is a famous song in Quebec, by a Quebecois singer, Gilles Vigneault, the first line of which reads: “Mon pays ce n’est pas un pays, c’est l’hiver”. The translation is, “My country is not a country, it is winter.” While the song has great metaphorical meaning for Quebecois, that first line is a good description of much of Canuckistan.
Long ago he said snow would just be a memory we would have to explain to the children.
Interestingly, the heaviest snow doesn't even fall during the winter months in parts of upstate New York. "Lake effect snow" is typically seen in the late fall and early spring. Once the Great Lakes freeze over there is no evaporation from the lakes to feed the weather systems that drop all that snow to the east.
“Damn. Dont you just hate it when gloBULL warming causes all these freezing temperatures around the country”?
Any time I hear anyone complain about the cold I say “Just think; if we didn’t have globull warming, we’d really be freezing”.
Where is all that Global Warming they promised us? Michigan is expected to remain below freezing for at least the next 10 days.
Central Ninnesota will be below 10 degrees F. for at least the next 10 days. Makes good iced for ice fishing!
Haha, perfect!
naghh it`s not even 40 below yet here. We go out in our tshirts at 10 below- nannies! whimpies whimpie whimpie
I met a vacationing couple from Minnesota on the beach in Florida today. They got out just in time. That’s some crazy cold up there.
I think I will be able to go ice skating on the lakes and ponds around here as they will be frozen solid.
That said, I would like to take Al Gore and tie him naked to the telephone pole outside my house for the duration.
Well, probably not naked. I'll probably let him wrap himself in unsold copies of "An Inconvenient Truth."
Global warming here in Iowa is bringing temps to ten below.
A liberal friend told me that a late, warm winter was expected in northern New England because of global warming. Time to dust off the excuses: Global warming causes global cooling; the cold is the weather, not the climate; the cold is temporary, but just wait anothers thirty years.
