“He was buried under garbage and today was trash day, so he would have been crushed to death,” Goldstein said. Trash is typically crushed and compacted when collected.

The dog had no microchip or collar to identify him or his owner. The dog is housebroken, calm and affectionate, Goldstein said.

“He’s the sweetest thing in the world. I can’t understand who could do something like this,” Goldstein said.

Goldstein and her neighbor, who was unavailable for comment, are waiting until Sunday to decide whether the dog will go to a shelter or rescue, or if they will try to find him a home themselves. They have also placed an online ad about the dog in hopes of finding its owner.

“I would love a happy ending for this baby,” Goldstein said. “Nobody deserves to be thrown away like trash.”

If you are interested in adopting the dog, call Goldstein at 609-902-9282.

Here is the on-line ad for the dog:

Is very sweet loving beagle was found in Lilburn deep in a dumpster. He was whimpering so loud that he drew attention to himself. I decided to make an ad on the off chance that his owner did not do this to him. He’s about a year and a half two years old and is sweet as sugar. 609 902 9282

If you don't want your dog then you should either find someone else to take him, take him to a shelter or, if there is nothing else to do, put him down humanely.

I have had a number of pets, option one and option three are the only ones I have done.

Just dumping an animal is wrong.

I follow my town’s animal control FB page. They report picking up a lot of dogs and cats that have been abandoned, dropped out of cars, etc. Some are in pretty rough shape. Nothing like this, though. SMH.

Could he have been trying to find food and feel in? Then rummaged around and went deeper? Just asking ?

Are we sure this wasn’t PETA freeing an enslaved animal from certain human ownership?

What a precious dog-I’m sure he will get the best home ever. a couple of months ago, my neighbor and friend agreed to keep/foster a treeing hound of some kind-he looks a lot like that beagle, but is a bit bigger-a lot of people out here have 2-3 hounds like that if they hunt raccoons and other varmints for pelts to make craft items to sell. He’d been found walking down the main FM, sniffing the air and obviously looking for someone. He had a collar but no tags, no chip-it didn’t take my friend even a week to decide to keep the dog-no owner has showed up-so he was neutered, he sleeps in a fancy pet bed beside hers, follows her literally everywhere and is very good with her 3 cats and other people-so he fell into high cotton. I hope that little hound gets a new owner like my friend.

I buy my dogs from recommended AKC kennels as pups-always a large, protective breed-because I want best of breed and I expect them to bond with and protect me and my cats. On the other hand, I’ve never had a cat that I didn’t either find at, or foster for the local animal welfare society-they are kept indoors, spoiled outrageously and live long lives.

Anyone who thinks a BEAGLE would have made it into the compactor without making that LOUD bizarre sound that they make hasn’t spent much time around Beagles.

When they find the so called human that did this, they should be sentenced, to the same.

What a happy ending to the article. I have a warm happy feeling now. Maybe it is just me, but I am sure a Freeper posted that people who are cruel to animals have a psychopathic personality. Likely to commit major crimes. I just cannot find it now. Ok, herewith names of serial killers who were cruel to animals as kids. (Google will elaborate).

Berkowitz. Dahmer. De Salvo. Bundy. Cunanan. Malvo. Rader.

There is no such thing as a calm beagle. They may get exhausted and sleep it off but they are never calm. I’ve had beagles all my life. They are great hounds most always full of zest for life.

So sad. Someone should be found and beaten to a pulp.
