Vermont will be disappointed. Their source of electricity is wood...

“Trees grow back.”

In my early adult days I used to take the same road trip several times a year that led past the side of a mountain that had been clear cut. It was quite the “scar” on the landscape.

30 years later it’s grown back over to the point I’m not even certain where it was.

critical flaws that could actually damage attempts to avert dangerous levels of global warming in the future

Could use some now. Things are going to start breaking from the cold by next weekend.

Coldest winter in 20 years. Coldest late December in 100.

“How many trees could be saved if fuels (of any type) weren’t being used to transport these ninnies to conferences in nice hotels around the globe?”

This was about 10 years ago. I got and still get a big chuckle when I think about my neighbor. He is a farmer and still farms in many ways old fashioned. He and his brother do very well and work hard. Anyway, their sister is married to a doctor. A conversation one day revealed the doctor was going to Alaska and was to speak at a conference. My friend asked why he could not just email his thoughts or have a teleconference. He said Doc had no response. Stereotypical stupid farmer 1 Doctor 0.

Let everyone know cutting and burning wood is efficient. The lack of doing that cost Billions in California this year and much more carbon went into the atmosphere as a result.

Make oil and gas as avalible as water and problem solved. Drill baby drill! The only reason anybody burns wood is because they’re trying to save money.

“These “climate experts” really are fools and idiots. Maybe they should replace fossil fuels with biomass by setting themselves on fire. The rest of us would sleep better. “

We are freezing our ass off here...have to go throw a few “climate” experts” on the fire to warm things up a tad.

“What do we want to save trees for?
The next big forest fire?”

Idiot California democrats can stay warm just by hanging out on the periphery of their glorious sel-made forest fires.

“There are no “climate experts” or “climate change scientists”.

False words with no meaning.”

Experts and scientists like Jerry Brown, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, Obama, Merkel.

Back to burning wood. These folks still expect to be taken seriously?

Back in the 70’s you used to see a lot of bumper stickers that said ‘split wood not atoms’. I guess that has changed. Now we can’t even split wood.

There is a disconnect here in this article.

What they are actually talking about are “woodgas” generators.

In warzones, such as the Balkans, many people used wood gas to power generators. A home made wood gas setup is a timebomb.

But of course the socialists there don’t understand that the root cause of woodgas generators are socialist people making socialist wars.

If the UK wasn’t such a hard place to care for a family (Due to socialism) then they wouldn’t have to worry about wood gas.

Reminds me of a joke:

What did socialists use before candles ?

Electricity.

***Policies aimed at limiting climate change by boosting the burning of biomass ***

Forty years ago many of the “Back to Earth” magazines were saying that wood burning was the “natural” way to go, and power plants should all be burning wood.
Someone figured it takes 25 square miles of forest to feed a power plant, not to mention the cost of logging it for the fuel.

But this same cabal will allow the forests to burn wildly because that is so environmental.

Question to anyone: How much carbon does 8 million acres of wildfires throw into the atmosphere?

So they believe the carbon locked up in trees will only be released into the atmosphere if burned??? smh.

By contrast, the forest where my family used to vacation every year is mostly standing dead wood now, because it has been ravaged by Japanese Pine Beetle. Young trees can defend themselves against it, but protected, coddled old pine trees can't.

Maybe that's what tree-huggers wanted: Forests full of old, dead trees instead of young, healthy ones.
