Scientists Expect Chocolate to Go Extinct by 2050

You may love chocolate, but you should probably start preparing yourself to say goodbye to it: Scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have predicted that cacao plants are likely to go extinct as early as 2050 due to climate change. But there’s one glimmer hope on the horizon: Mars—the candy company which makes such chocolate treats as the Snickers and the Twix bar—has teamed up with the University of California on a new method that may help save future cacao crops.

“due to climate change”

That is when I was assured that chocolate will be around for about as long as it already has.

I’m happy to know I’ll be extinct long before chocolate.

This guy makes good points, but he’s an avowed atheist and he believes in forced population control — he thinks what the Chinese did that resulted in the murder of millions of preborn and newborn babies (mostly girls) is a noble thing. Of course, the Chicoms have done a big “oops” and reversed themselves.

But there’s one glimmer hope on the horizon: Mars

This means war.

Why do I see in my head a potential Far Side cartoon showing a pair of multi-colored dangling legs and a tipped stool, with the caption reading, “Upon hearing of the Coca plants being extinct by 2050, entrepreneur Willy Wonka committed suicide.”

This doesn’t make any sense.

Cacao is a tropical plant.....................

This was my take as well. So a more natural conclusion for those of us who are mere mortals, would be that more global warming should result in more tropical areas resulting in MORE CHOCOLATE FOR ALL!!! :)

But scientists said it, so it must be so..............

The “scientist” is stupid. If temps were to rise, production would simply move to cooler climates. Move north about 1 meter per year. That should do it.

Tequila production in Minnesota. Yeah, baby!

Rarely do we see such bald-faced, anti-science lies as this.

NO reputable botanist, horticulturalist or agriculturalist would make such a STUPID claim. And that also applies to economists and to even entrepreneurs who want to make money.

If the climate is getting warmer, than the cocoa trees will be planted further North and South of their current growing range. Those companies who make money off of cocoa trees (which includes cocaine manufacturers!) will ensure this is done.

Such screwball predications have the direct result of everyday people scoffing at climate change proponents. Dumbasses!

Reminds me of the Jerry Springer show — what weird combination of perversions can you combine.

No different than the “mutant chicken boy” in the centerfold of the National Enquirer.

A new (or maybe old) phrase — “tabloid science.”

What THEY don’t want you to know; in an effort to replace seal blood snowcones starving polar bears have fled the ice free Artic and are eating all of the cacao plants. There are also complaints of the bears exercising “white privileges”, causing gentrification of poor neighborhoods, and for being poor tippers.
