In 1977, the “scientists” predicted that, undoubtedly, the live oak population of the city of Austin, TX would be extinct in about twenty years because of oak wilt. Now, 40 years later, there is no noticeable decrease in the number of live oaks. It I have seen no apology or admission that the “consensus” was wrong. These “scientists” get credit for their research but avoid any responsibility for their failures.

Utterly dumb.
Cacao can be grown nearly anywhere. It grows near-wild on our former Philippine coconut plantation. The tenants used to send an annual gift of native chocolate to the head office. The Philippines used to export it, but got priced out. It does not need to come from West Africa.

But it’s good for the animal population since chocolate is toxic to them. My cat will be thrilled.

As long as global warming is no threat to catnip production, my cat (actually my neighbor's) will be happy.

No problem for my wife/I and our siblings, who love chocolate as we are in our mid to late 70’s.

Probably no problem for our adult children, nieces and nephews.

Might be a problem for grand kids and grand nieces/nephews.

Hershey comes out with these stories during the holidays as an excuse to raise the price.

So I guess, if the climate does get warmer, humans are too stupid to plant chocolate producing plant in the newly warmer areas, right? Freaking propagandists! These fake scientists are making people lose any respect for real science.

$13 billion will barely cover the cost of the studies and plans. You’ll then need $13 TRILLION to save the cacao.

I won’t be alive, but if I were, I would offer to place a bet with the authors at NOAA for $1,000,000 dollars...

If there are living cacao plants, I win.

If there are none, you win.

But they won’t take the bet. They know better.

A friend once called these predictions a “bow wave” — it’s always off the bow of the boat, in front of you, and you never catch it.

“Scientists Expect Chocolate to Go Extinct by 2050 “

Media stupidity (but I repeat myself) on steroid!

The original NOAA article is in itself a monument of junk science but even then, it never said such thing as “chocolate to go extinct” and it dates back from 2016, during the Obama climate hysteria years: https://www.climate.gov/news-features/climate-and/climate-chocolate

It is doubtfull to find on official websites new pseudo-scientific garbage of this kind now. The climate change scammers are greedy, but not that stupid.

I’ll be dead by 2050 so I don’t care.

Incidentally, the “scientists” who made this prediction also will be dead or retired by 2050 so they won’t have to pay any consequences when this BS prediction turns out to be wrong.
