When we were kids the playground equipment at school and the parks were on asphalt. If I fell and got any cuts or bruises up my Mom would clean me up and admonish me to BE MORE CAREFUL!
Yea.. in 1955 the football helmet was NOT leather but the face mask In the middle of the season - was a bar across the nose.
My Baseball LL (50-51) helmet was two pieces of plastic over the ear and two strips of elastic to hold them together. Think the whole team had 3 of them.
I set pins in a bowling alley at 14- double alley, double shift, 5 nights a week and some weekends.that was with the PEGS in the floor..
Only nights off were Fri in basketball season.
All football and baseball games were in the afternoon.
And I was ‘hard on my kids (2 Ds)’ and my grandkids have a hard life....
