CA Ammunition Controls Force Temporary Halt to Walmart Ammo Sales
Breitbart ^ | 19 Jan 2018 | AWR Hawkins

Newly implemented ammunition controls forced a temporary halt to ammo sales at 131 Walmart stores throughout California.

On January 1, 2018, Breitbart News reported that California’s ammunition controls took effect. These controls require that all ammunition be purchased in-state and that those purchases be conducted via a California-approved dealer.

Moreover, an individual must secure a “California vendor license” to be recognized as a California-approved ammunition dealer. This means that if the state is delayed in issuing the licenses dealers will necessarily be unable to sell ammunition.

It’s a YUGE Border. Use your head and go buy some Ammo.

The NY law required all Ammo buyers to go through NICS. Nics wouldn’t do it for NYS. They were already overwhelmed by gun purchases. So there is no checks in NY when buying Ammo. Still can’t buy it online.

Under the regulations you can still order online but you have to have the ammo shipped to a FFL. The FFL can charge a fee for handling.

BUT I was thinking that a local gun store might do will by promoting “FREE AMMO” where they would accept local shipments for free. Great way to increase foot traffic into the store and develop a loyal customer base.

Wonder what they have done to those who reload ammo?

From your link:

“The California law does not regulate the reloading of ammunition, or the sale of components such as gunpowder for reloaders, projectiles, wads, cartridge cases or shotgun hulls or primers. Gunpowder and primers have hazmat restrictions, but they could be ordered in bulk by gun clubs. The sale of these items is unrestricted by California law.”

Well, that is nice.

No serial numbers on ammo (yet). Buy it where you want and claim it’s pre ban.

Until next year. Then, one must get a background check for an ammo purchase -and Kali tracks those.

“These controls require that all ammunition be purchased in-state ... “
That’s the way it reads. If true it is incredible. Shirley not.

"Additionally, if the police search your home and discover a non-CA box of ammo whose manufacturer's batch number shows it was made after Jan 1, 2018, then they will have an open and shut conviction."

Lose the boxes.

Still works. Very lethal at short range.

My old 30/30 Winchester with cast lead 170gr bullets is pretty darn accurate and effective out to 150 yards. As is the old 38 special revolver shooting 158gr cast lead bullets. Not hi-tech, but lethal.

How does a CADOJ agent at a Nevada gun show know that a person buying ammo resides in CA?

The left KNOWS they can’t ban guns outright - YET.

Their new tactic is to use various incremental legislative levers to undermine the Second Amendment to the point where it is meaningless.

Watch California and the POS New governor of New Jersey.

SCOTUS needs to step in and tell them that these measures effectively eviscerate the Second Amendment and are unconstitutional.

The law specifically bans buying and bringing it back into California except through a local, state-approved dealer. I haven’t been to California since the first of the year but wonder if their entry checkpoints now have signs and are they now actively checking for ammo in addition to citrus, etc.
