A quick look at the map during the Cold War will make it clear why Greece and Turkey both were invited into the alliance in 1952, and kept there despite episodes from both countries of behaving badly. In the face of the serious threats of Soviet subversion and expansionism, the Cypress issue was news but a back burner priority.

Yes, this is a developing scenario, and no urgency to come down on one position or another. Wait and see how the next few moves take shape. Then weigh in when and where it will serve the US interests the most.

the Kurds have no land in the sovereign country of Syria. They are a communist faction and PART OF SYRIA. We need to not be in Syria. We are not invited. They are a sovereign state. It is a gross invasion to be there, Get out!!

3 small simple questions

1. What Do You Want?

2. How do you get it?

And as regards to your post

3. Then What Happens?

Everyone knows, as Turkish forces move south, guns are pointed backward, because Erdogan’s forces moving south are just - “leaving Turkey in the wrong direction”.

In reality, this is not good.

There is quite the chess game being played here.

Russia, Syria (specifically Assad), Turkey (Erdogan), and Iran have formed a real axis.

In general, *Afrin is in a broader anti-Assad “rebel held” northern Syrian area, which needs to be crushed for the current Syrian leadership to remain in place, and to have a continuous Russian friendly area. This pocket of anti-Russian/anti-Turk/anti-Syria rebel regime in the middle of an otherwise “Russian/Shia dominated sphere” is deadly and cannot be allowed. Further east, these rebels have also threatened more than once, to gain possession of CW’s. This cannot be allowed.

Additionally, in the past week, the US has declared we were going to stay in Syria AND help build a Kurdish Army.

None of this will be willingly allowed by the new *Russia Shia AXIS with Syria, Iran, or the second deadliest military in the Shia Crescent region - Turkey.

As well, our US Air Force/NATO critical base Incirlik, has been surrounded by “friendly” Turkish forces several times in the past 2 years. What is going on here can only be considered “rocket surgery” by ignorant and oblivious lefty’s. Ankara is squarely part of the broader Russian effort in the region, to ultimately control Europe.

As a long term *Strategic* effort, the US has sought to keep Moscow from “reasserting” geopolitical and military influence throughout the energy rich region. Main (trunk) Energy Pipelines, carrying energy from much of the region, run from the Caspian Sea, along the Caucus Mountains, and through the region this is NOW happening, on its way to a very dependent EUROPE!

Regardless of what the American and European population knows, (in fact the more ignorant and more *PREOCCUPIED* the better), *think mass anti-west migration from the Middle East to Europe and the US, the ultimate Russian goal is to be in a place to dictate the future of Europe, PERIOD.

As well, a truly decisive way Russia can REGAIN global assertiveness and power, and to be in the “Drivers Seat” over Europe, is to be the dominant player in the Middle East.

The US and our *pro-western Middle East allies are the obstacle to this Moscow/Shia Crescent goal!

Russia is now carrying out a new diplomatic campaign for support and trade, which is once again aimed at Libya and Egypt as well.

There is a powerful new player in the mix as well. China. China, “currently” allied with Russia, is building naval and air force bases throughout the region, and has even had troops on the ground in DJ, Yemen, Iraq, and Syria (along side the Russians). China is now one of the biggest players in Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Ethiopia, and the Horn of Africa, just behind Moscow. Think control of energy and trade through the Red Sea and the old (Russian completed) Suez Canal.

While nothing travels in a strait line, unfortunately, the gravity of the Middle East is reaching levels which could easily cause a true WWIII.

This invalidates any NATO agreement if Syria should choose to invade Turkey.

"Watch out for an alliance with Iran (Persia), to take over the Kurds, then Saudi Arabia and the entire region."

The Globalists have been pushing for a swtch from Sunni (Saudi) to Shia (Iranian) dominance ever since BHO became POTUS ...

Why is this not on Fox news? Why do they seem to focus almost entirely on politics? Is it down to the time of day I happen to turn it on? I only ever catch early morning news and taped Hannity and Carlson or JJ shows except on the weekend.

"Quagmire" always reminds me of Bloom County's very own Senator Bedfellow.

And Sen. McCain. Yeah. Him.

And Walter Cronkite.

Whose mention incites rancid associations with Jane Fonda.

Apart from your usage, when did you last hear a Real American ™ use the term?

Perhaps you would prefer George Washington’s term to describe the debilitating nonsense. “Foreign entanglement”

I don’t follow that Q crap..and neither should you.

Everyone should be following that 'Q crap' and those who refer to it as such should get educated on the subject.

It is said Damascus, as a city, will be destroyed. No light will shine within it.

The Lord has His timeframe. For my tastes, it can’t happen soon enough.

Ask the Armenians how that worked out. You could expect the Turks to try the same genocide game when it comes to the Kurds.

“If Turkey attacks Syria from behind, would Greece help?”

If Golden Dawn ever takes control of Greece then the answer will be a resounding ‘YES!’.

Golden Dawn wants to retake all of the former Greek territories from the Ottomans and that includes Constantinople and the Bosporous.

I have to say, it would be nice to see the Hagia Sophia in Christian hands again.
