Democrats and Republicans have agreed to a deal which will end the US government shutdown.

The government partially shut down on Friday after a funding deadline ran out because the two parties had failed to agree on a deal.

On Monday afternoon Democratic senators announced they have agreed to a deal with the Republicans which paves the way to reopen the federal government.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the party's most senior senator, announced that the party would vote to advance a plan to reopen the government.

I am piecing together that McConnell delinked DACA with the WALL. That is unacceptable!@! Schumer says he was promised a vote “on DACA” of there was a “not and immigration bill by FEB 8!!” You cannot do that! That is the leverage we have. There can be no delinking or here what will happen. There will be no wall and they get DACA? Are you kidding me? This is outrageous. Tell me I have not figured this out!! McConnell would not be that stupid — would he. He doesn’t want the WALL and he hates Trump. Did he sabotage out WALL. Is that why the dems flocked to this deal. TRUMP WILL VETO THIS IN S NEW YORK MINUTE!! We will not permit the delinking of Daca with the wall!! NO WAY!!

Getting rid of chain migration and getting the wall will stop another DACA from coming up

That's the mistake President Reagan made, and that every RINO now wants to make again.

Give a pass to 800,000 and the dems, led by Linda Graham, will say, "But what about the 800,001st? What did he/she/it do that keeps him/dim/twit from coming in? What about the 50,000 who got in last week? What about the truckloads and boatloads hitting California every day?

Give them DACA and the invasion never stops.

I’ll bet they didn’t follow any of the rules laid out in “The Art of the Deal”. Rinos always give the Dems what they want.

Yes. Trump said he supports protecting the 800,000 DACA recipients but will not sign anything that doesn’t put an end to chain migration and the visa lottery AND we get the wall.

AND

e-verify

And

MERIT.

Exactly. But the damage is done. The Democrats will now be painted as favoring illegal aliens over citizens.

(((
Yes, so happy to see the GOP guys coming on TV repeating that line. Trump has taught them how to fight back.

Never a bad deal when you get concrete action now in exchange for a promise to look into something in the future.

as Senate Republicans and Democrats reach a deal

So, they just rolled over? — That seems to be about all the feckless party can do at the national level…
(Remind me again how the Republican party is better than the Democrat, especially when all they ever do is cave.)

I’m curious. If you didn’t expect some kind of deal, good or bad, what did you expect?

What’s the alternative to a deal?

Served its purpose--to "rain on" media coverage of President Trump's anniversary weekend!

What a costly, yet cheap, shot for Democrats to participate in such transparent trick which held such danger for military families and their hero members!

Every citizen with military ties--past and present--should hold Schumer and the Dimwitted Demos accountable at the ballot box in 2018 and 2020.

Liberty lovers know that is the military which protect and defend our freedom--not Schumer and his merry band of Progressive destroyers of liberty!

Public opinion doesn't mean beans to me either so there is no need yelling at me but it does to Trump if he wants to be re-elected.

Nowhere did he say "protection" means amnesty or citizenship. If they break a law, they will be deported. If they want citizenship they have to do it the legal way. Several have already been deported. Also, he needs to make sure there is no way they can vote. Graham and Flake are pushing chain migration. That's one place Trump will have to fight back and veto if necessary.

I don't like it either and would rather see them all gone but he sees that it's better to lose one small battle than the whole war. He has been adamant about absolutely NO amnesty, stopping chain migration, visa lottery, and other immigration issues. He isn't trusting like other Rep. presidents. He knows how to fight dirty. He's extremely smart. Heaven knows he not polite and PC. That's one of the many reasons I love him.

I'm trusting him to do the best for the country and so far he has.

Honestly? The American people to get screwed over.

What’s the alternative to a deal?

Enforcement. And not piddly political for display purposes only crap… something more along the lines of ordering the Army to secure the borders of the US with lethal force authorized, the Navy to do the same WRT the coasts, issue warrants for the arrests of all city-council members (or analogs), mayors for sanctuary cities, and the Sheriffs in the containing counties — offer tax-free rewards for them, if need be — then, when the Congress tries to impeach over the moral outrage arrest them because their immunity does not cover Treason.

That is the alternative to a deal.

The only thing that happened is the bogus “shutdown” has ended.

This leads me to believe that the fix is in. Graham has enough co-traitors in the Republican caucus who will vote with the democrats for clean DACA amnesty without any of the immigration system fixes or new security measures that we absolutely have to have to save this country.

I'm inclined to agree; I don't know if you remember but in 2014 it was the Republicans who were pushing Amnesty; there was an article posted here on FR just a few days (maybe a week-and-a-half, at most) before the election wherein Boehner? (IIRC) was boasting about the Republicans pushing Amnesty through. There's an article here, titled Just How Close Was The 2014 Amnesty Vote? – Here’s The Back Story…, which I think does an excellent job laying out the case of how close things came.
