Nancy Pelosi: Trump 'surrendered his constitutional responsibility' by releasing memo
Washington Examiner ^ | 2/3/18 | Al Weaver

Posted on 02/03/2018 1:00:19 PM PST by markomalley

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif, and Democratic lawmakers slammed President Trump after he approved the release of a memo questioning surveillance methods by the FBI during the early stages of the Russia investigation, arguing that he gave up “his constitutional responsibility” by releasing it.

“President Trump has surrendered his constitutional responsibility as commander in chief by releasing highly classified and distorted intelligence,” Pelosi said. “By not protecting intelligence sources and methods, he just sent his friend Putin a bouquet.

"[House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin] Nunes’ partisan spin memo distorts highly classified intelligence in a cynical attempt to discredit our national intelligence and law enforcement agencies and the Special Counsel investigation,” Pelosi argued. “Releasing the memo is a desperate attempt to distract the American people from the truth about the Trump-Russia scandal.”

Pelosi reiterated her call for Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., to remove Nunes as chairman of the committee and repeated the FBI's warning against releasing the memo, saying it would be an "extraordinarily reckless" action.

Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., the ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, called the memo a Republican "betrayal of the American people."

"House Republicans are now accomplices to a shocking campaign to obstruct the work of the special counsel, to undermine the credibility and legitimacy of the Justice Department and the FBI, and to bury the fact that a foreign adversary interfered with our last election," the Democratic members of the committee said.

The memo says the dossier compiled by Christopher Steele was used by the FBI as part of the initial request and all three renewal FISA applications against Carter Page, a former adviser to the Trump campaign. The FBI, however, launched its formal investigation into the Trump campaign in July 2016 due to the activities of foreign policy aide George Papadopoulos.

Coupla minor corrections, Nance:

1) President Trump didn’t release the memo. A Congressional committee released the memo.

2) No classified information was released. It was ‘declassified’ by a president, exercising his Constitutional responsibility. That phrase does not necessarily mean ‘doing what Democrats think he should do.’

Too hard for you to understand, sweetie?

They keep trying to switch the focus off of the phony Steele dossier by pointing to Papadopoulos as the initial target of their Russia surveillance sting. However, Papadopoulos was merely charged with “false statements”:

https://www.justice.gov/file/1007346/download

This merely indicates he mixed up dates or the order of events, left out details, or minimized the importance or significance of certain events and relationships.

All of the interactions Papadopoulos had with the professor, Russians, etc. were merely doing his job for the Trump campaign. So far, no one has brought a single charge for any criminal activity that could have formed the basis for this Russia investigation or the original FISA surveillance requests.

What crimes? None. Unless you look over at the Democrat side. Then they are endless. And every false claim they are making against Trump and Republicans are the very things they themselves are guilty of.

The memo reveals that serious crimes were committed by Hillary, Obama, their employees, and other Democrat operatives—some within the intelligence community.

But, speaking of Papadopoulos, isn’t there supposed to be a Papadopoulos dossier on Hillary? I think we need to see that as well. Is it phony like the Steele dossier, or does it contain proof of real crimes?

OK, the president has a right to fire anyone who was giving him that first security briefing where the dossier was shown to him. Remember the security briefing where Clapper and others showed the dossier to Trump and they said it was false. Then they leaked that meeting to the press. At that meeting they admitted it was false. Everyone in that briefing should be fired by Trump now for giving a false security briefing to a President elect.

Never forget Nancy is the one who signed the document that stated Obama was eligible to run for President.

Everything Obama and Hillary(as SOS)did can be blamed on her too.

I’ve seen it somewhere on this forum.

In another and better world, this woman would be working as a pizza waitress in Bakersfield.

Why, what do you mean? Nancy Pelosi is a master legislator. I heard her say so myself. There was just one of many reasons she gave why she should remain as the Dim Majority Leader.

Thanks markomalley. One can tell that they've taken another one on the chin, because they always start raging about imaginary crimes and collusion, making themselves look even worse -- they just lost the tax reform fight, again, because people started to get paychecks under the new plan; they lost with their moronic fascistic antics during President Trump's spectacular SOTU address (one of his Constitutional duties; he's performing all of them, Botox); which makes three major defeats (the third being release of the memo) so far in 2018; they lost the Schumer Shutdown, whoops, make that four in 2018; they lost the tax reform vote late in 2017, along with judicial appointments by our POTUS, and clearly haven't won, or even distinguished themselves, in the NFL fight or the Democratic Party War on Women in and out of Hollywood... so, how do those Media Shill polls look now for the 2018 election odds, eh, nutbars?

... said the moron who willfully disregarded 0vomit’s background and signed the form saying he was eligible to run for President, despite his not being a citizen and most likely being a spy/terrorist trying to overthrow the US.
