Discretionary spending is shrinking as a percentage of the budget. We are so far in debt that service on the debt is growing rapidly. That leaves Defense, Social Security and Medicaid/Medicare as by far the largest portion of Fed.gov spending. Those will not be touched.
Take an ax to Dept. of Education and a host of other agencies for ideological reasons, but it won't make a huge dent in government spending.
What about EBT $$$ ?
What percent is that of Fed spending???
but it won’t make a huge dent in government spending.

True....BUT one has to start somewhere.
Remember when the drilling for oil on the North Slope (or pick an area), the argument was...’No need to rush, you will not see any oil for 10 years’
A true statement BUT that was 40 years ago and have yet to see the first drop AND ‘they’ are still saying...but it will be 10 years etc etc etc
