David Kernell, best known for hacking into Sarah Palin's personal Yahoo account during the 2008 presidential campaign, has died from complications of multiple sclerosis. After being sentenced to a year in prison he got his life back on track, by most accounts.

Kernell, 30, was a student at the University of Tennessee 10 years ago when he successfully guessed Palin's security answers, which allowed him to change the password and get access to the Yahoo account, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported while confirming his death last week in California through family members.

I was thinking the same. Dead at 30 of MS would seem to be really unusual. Suicide, perhaps? Mis-diagnosis?

My son is 30. I would be devastated if he died before me, let alone at such a tender young age.

I wouldn’t wish the loss of a child on anyone. God sees such a loss as seriously hurtful, and took King David’s illegitimate child while sparing the King, who deserved death, to suffer the loss. And cursed David’s household to the bloody sword, as he later had to lose another son who was trying to eliminate his father to become king.

My take anyway.

I understand that

Because of his activity level (based on the article) and the wording in the story I made my comment

PP type MS has a shorter life span but in the US at any rate the mortality comes more like ten years out

Having MS attack the brain stem is more typical of late term advancing MD

when he successfully guessed Palin's security answers

This is why you never use real answers for these.

My son is in the hospital right now with an incurable disease. He is 34. I have some relatives who are as far left as one can get. But they contact me constantly telling me they have done group prayers with anyone they can, they have shown more support and compassion than anyone.

I am very sorry about your son's condition. Compassion and class often transcend both religion and political party. Your son and your whole family will be in my family's prayers. Would you mind sharing his first name or initials to make it easier for us to pray for him?
