During the first Cold War, American and British spies would sometimes place coded messages in newspaper classified ads to communicate with each other. And according to new reports in the New York Times and The Intercept, the National Security Agency (NSA) has updated the tactic, using its public Twitter account to send secret messages to at least one Russian spy....

FWIW... There are a number of open source and freeware steganography programs available to anybody who wants to use them, just google “steganography software” I’ve played with a few and I’m surprised that they were allowed into the public domain. You can hide a lot of things inside of other things (images inside of audio files, text inside of images, images inside of other images) and to a human (me) the hidden messages are quite invisible. I’m also pretty sure that most steganography can be cracked with the right techniques but with the sheer volume of what’s posted online it has to be a Herculean task.
Missed it by that much.

Lol
