Ben Carson, or the tale of the disappearing cabinet secretary.
Washington Post ^ | 2/11/2018 | Ben Terris

Posted on 02/11/2018 7:41:38 AM PST by sodpoodle

Carson is an acclaimed neurosurgeon who oversees a large government agency for which he has no particular qualifications and in this way represents the grand theme of the Trump administration. He, like the president, came to power by promising that an outsider would have the "common sense" it takes to cure what ails us.

And so, while conservative gadfly Armstrong Williams played host to this party at the Monocle restaurant, it was Carson everyone came to see.

"There's never been a time in the history of the world where a society became divided like this and did well," Carson said as a crowd — including an off-duty New York Times reporter, D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser, a slew of representatives from housing nonprofit organizations, and old friends from his presidential campaign — circled him. "And we don't really have a reason to be fighting each other. There was a movie some years ago, a Will Smith movie called 'Independence Day' . . ."

With his soothing, story-time cadences and heavy-lidded gaze, Carson proceeded to hold forth on how the earth's near-annihilation laid bare the superficiality of all the world's strife. If only, he argued, people realized the fate of humanity hung in the balance, then Palestinians and Jews, or even the United States and Russia, could be "like best friends."

I didn’t recognize his name. Thanks for reminding me of what an a-hole this guy is.

“How is Ben Carson an “outsider”? ...”

He’s the most terrifying outsider the Left/Progressives could possibly imagine. Black guy, conservative politically, refuses to toe the party line on racial-identity politics, refuses to drink the Kool-Aid over the dire need to protect the totalitarian nanny-state.

He succeeded by his own efforts - almost entirely.

But we should note author Terris’ condescending, skeptical comments about family use of food stamps. A common refrain from nanny-state apologists: the individual assailing the giveaway program in question once used a giveaway program themselves, therefore they have no moral authority to criticize any giveaway program, therefore every criticism of the socialist welfare state is invalid.

I wonder what Ben Terris has done with his life. I wonder how many people he has saved. I wonder if this little twirp could even imagine life beyond sucking up to his politically correct editors. What a sad little man with a sad little job.

The chances of this being a coherent middle-road reasoned article dropped to 0.00% as soon as I saw W.P.

You can tell from the masthead that they now regret backing Obama.

Anyone who questions Dr. Carson’s intelligence and drive need only pick up and read his book ONE AMERICA to be set straight. The man is morally grounded and correctly identifies “political correctness” as one of the biggest threats to this country.

They only way HUD can make news is by wasting money. If it’s Secretary isn’t making news, that’s a good thing.
