U.S. Coalition Kills Russians in Airstrikes Against Assad Supporters in Syria, Reports Say
Newsweek ^ | 02/12/2018 | Tom O'Connor

Posted on 02/12/2018 11:53:29 PM PST by vikingrinn

The Conflict Intelligence Team found the Russians "may have fought alongside pro-Russia separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine prior to joining the fight against the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) and other insurgents challenging Assad's rule in Syria." The group also found Russians killed "appeared to have joined the Wagner Group, a private paramilitary company, before traveling to fight in Syria. Last October, ISIS released a video showing two Russian-speaking men the militants claimed to have captured, and subsequent research showed the two men were likely Wagner Group members fighting in Syria." "While the total number of 'Wagner' operatives killed in Coalition airstrikes is unlikely to ever be established, it is beyond doubt that this incident indeed took place."

Syria is a country that got it’s butt kicked by ISIS,

US backed forces did a lot more.

What’s Eastern Ghouta? The suburbs of Damascus, that’s where Syria and Russia are still fighting.

Putin - more tinpot moves. He’s a failure and will get more Russians killed.

Frankly, the way he is destabilizing the area, we ought to fund thel Chechnyans to keep him busy at home.

If he wants to play Cold War games, give him games.

Do you say the same thing, when Israel carries out strikes against Syria? It’s okay to arm terrorists?

I'm not an Israeli and I don't answer for them. I honestly don't give a sh!t about either country.

Also, Syria, Assad and Putin have flooded the West with refugees, yes, it is our business.

We can't even say "No!" to the flood of immigrants from these places without having Federal court orders stopping us from enforcing our own laws. That's not the fault of Assad and Putin, is it?

Syria has been a designated terrorist country since 1979.

By whom -- the U.S.? We were arming Osama bin Laden in 1979, weren't we? We sure are a credible authority on what constitutes a "terrorist country." LOL.

Putin gave Erdogan the green light to go after the Kurds according to Pat Buchanan and one of his columns in the past 2 weeks. Look that up.

Your pro Assad, pro Iran, pro Putin, pro Erdogan sympathies will win you favor in many Muslim forums.

Of course, the counter to this is to ask why you and other neocons have pro Saudi Arabia, pro Sunni militia sympathies. The fact remains that pretty much every terrorist attack on US or European soil has been perpetrated by Sunni extremists, not by Shias. And it's Saudi clerics, not Assad who funnel money to these organizations. The "Free Syria Army" backed by McCain is the "moderate" wing of this Sunni faction - basically they're Muslim Brotherhood rather than Al Quaeda or ISIS.

Must be why the Russians worked so hard behind the scenes to get Trump elected. So he could kill them.

Assad had no problem in supporting “Sunni” jihadists when they killed US troops in Iraq.

The turks have lost over 300 troops and at least 4 tanks in the past week, according to reports here.

"No, GoldenStateRose really knows about Russia"

Yes, she really does know about Russia, but what she doesn't know is that what she knows is wrong.

80 percent? Seriously? The naïveté required to believe that, let alone post it, is mind boggling.

Either this group or another of Russians were building a bridge for Hezbollah and SAA troops to cross the US line in order to drive US troops out, and were blasted big time - Mr Spooky even paid a visit, along with heavy barrel-melting US arty fire, and aerial bombing.

They were attacking Kurds, who had US troops embedded. US warned them not to attack, but they didn’t listen.

“trump needs to geld those clamoring for another world war, and instead join russia in achieving filicide of isis... “

The best way to do that is to join Russia in supporting Assad’s goal of regaining control over the whole of Syria, and killing the jihadis wherever they can be found.

It’s called realpolitik for a reason.

As for the Neocons here, give ‘em an M4 and drop them in Syria. Let them get their jollies fist hand.

As long as we rid ourselves of their presence here, just about anything will do.

Detestable criminals all.

Also, Syria, Assad and Putin have flooded the West with refugees, yes, it is our business.

Neither Assad nor Putin is forcing us to admit any of these refugees, nor can they. If we're getting flooded by them, liberal immigration policy is to blame, just as it's to blame for the invasion of Third World immigrants that have nothing to do with Syria.

Syria has been a designated terrorist country since 1979.

The "terrorist" designation simply means "country the state department doesn't like." To give an example of how meaningless and arbitrary the designation is, prior to 1999 when Clinton and his allies decided to intervene in Kosovo, the Kosovo Liberation Army was designated a terrorist organization. Overnight, they got scratched off the terrorist list - and it wasn't because they changed for the better.

Assad isn't a nice guy, but he's never spearheaded a terrorist attack against the US or any European country. His comparatively secular regime was seen by Christians and Yazidis as a protector against Islamists who murder infidels and heretics. Assad is a thug who kills people who get in his way. His opponents kill people because they're Islamists.

“Russia is using ISIS as cover for their real plans to undermine U.S. in the long run.”

There you go inventing an alternate reality again.

You have absolutely no credible evidence to support your assertion.

Though I’m sure most publications in Ukraine spout that nonsense daily.

“Your pro Assad, pro Iran, pro Putin, pro Erdogan sympathies will win you favor in many Muslim forums.”

Your “Putinista Shaming” here on FR is accelerating and you are becoming a disgrace.

From your perspective, any point of view that does not see Russia as “the Evil Empire” and Putin as Satan his own self, is one of Putin’s useful idiots.

Guess what? YOU are the one who is Putin obsessed.

Russia has legitimate interests. The US has legitimate interests. Sometimes those interests overlap.

And it so happens those interests overlap in Ukraine and Syria.

Great news! May the mercenaries have a quick trip back home.

To the Russia lovers I say, no one wants another world war. But Russia is a threat to Europe and the US - a bigger threat than ISIS.

Top US adversaries: 1) Russia, 2) China, 3) North Korea, 4)Iran, 5) Venezuela, 6) ISIS, 7) US Liberals.

US policy needs to degrade Russia over the years, focusing on its economy which is commodity based. Shale oil is our biggest weapon right now. Drive down oil prices to hurt Russia, Iran, Venezuela. Drill, Baby, Drill.

Great Idea, we can send them arms too, like we did the Syrian "Moderate" "Rebels", you can take up a collection starting in Boston.
