Police and fire crews are responding to “an incident” at the NSA campus at Fort Meade in Anne Arundel County, fire and transportation officials said. The exact circumstances of the investigation were not clear. Anne Arundel County Police reported a “possible shooting near NSA” on Twitter, but said they are not the lead agency. Fort Meade public affairs confirmed an incident is being investigated and didn’t have any other information at this time. Maryland State Highway Administration has shut down MD 32 in both directions at Canine Road in response. Fort Meade officials urged motorists to take alternate routes and “expect long delays.”

Fwiw, the result of yesterday’s hubbub.

NSA gate incident: 2 Fort Meade suspects released, third turned over to Howard County Sheriff's Office

Two of the men who were arrested Wednesday at Fort Meade — where the driver of an SUV attempted to enter the National Security Agency compound — have been released, and the third has been handed over to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI said Thursday.

The driver of the SUV, an NSA police officer and a civilian bystander were injured in the incident, which happened shortly before 7 a.m. at Gate 1 on Canine Road, off Maryland Route 32.

The investigation is ongoing, but “we do not see a nexus to terrorism,” FBI Baltimore field office spokesman Dave Fitz said in a statement.

Javonte Alhajie Brown, 24, of Washington, was turned over to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday evening on an active warrant for unpaid child support, spokesman Deputy Christopher Adams said.

No phone number was listed for Brown’s address. He was expected to be released Thursday afternoon, Adams said.

The FBI did not release the names or ages of the other men, and the agency did not provide any updates on the injured people’s conditions. Fitz said he did not expect to provide a second update Thursday.
