NEW YORK It has been five months since the FBI arrested 10 men in a sweeping federal probe into the underbelly of the basketball world. As the three ongoing criminal cases resulting from the investigation plod along, its increasingly unlikely there will be another wave of double-digit arrests.
More legal charges still could come, but whats becoming increasingly clear as the discovery portion of the case comes to a close is that the breadth of potential NCAA rules violations uncovered is wide enough to fundamentally and indelibly alter the sport of college basketball.
The soundtrack to the three federal basketball corruption cases is essentially a ticking time bomb, which will inevitably explode. It will impact every major conference, Hall of Fame coaches, a score of current top players and some of the nations most distinguished and respected programs.
Multiple sources whove been briefed on the case and are familiar with the material obtained by feds told Yahoo Sports that the impact on the sport will be substantial and relentless. Sitting under protective order right now are the fruits of 330 days of monitoring activity by the feds, which one assistant US Attorney noted Thursday was a voluminous amount of material. That includes wiretaps from 4,000 intercepted calls and thousands of documents and bank records obtained from raids and confiscated computers, including those from notorious NBA agent Andy Miller.
This goes a lot deeper in college basketball than four corrupt assistant coaches, said a source who has been briefed on the details of the case. When this all comes out, Hall of Fame coaches should be scared, lottery picks wont be eligible to play and almost half of the 16 teams the NCAA showed on its initial NCAA tournament show this weekend should worry about their appearance being vacated.

Where there’s money there’s bo0und to be corruption.
Wont be surprised to find the name Calhoun in there.
Does this mean some teams will have to play white boys?
Algonquin J. Calhoun
I would like to see them investigate the corrupt officiating for Duke. I’m pretty sure you either cheat for Duke or you aren’t allowed to officiate in the Acc. It’s too blatant for something not to be going on.
It will take a while to get the stench of that sleazy Pitino off the Louisville program.
I said Pititno. Let me revise that to 6 second Rick.
Maybe so but the biggest offender is unc. They are absolutely dirty and have been for some time.
I’m not sure the worst of what they did, but maybe some of these resources could have been used to follow up on, say, people that threaten to shooting schools.
Why doesn’t anyone ever pay a coach to beat the spread?
Oh come on
Just let the kids play hoops
I love march madness. It’s hella fun
Hah, I was just thinking that if anybody goes down it should be UNC.
Sorry, would love to see it.
That was the first name that came to my mind. Louisville, Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgetown, Villanova, Pitt, Florida, Syracuse, UConn, SMU, maybe Duke, maybe Michigan State. Dickie Vitale sucks up to all these programs with the exception of SMU; but hey, it's SMU. There are only two top programs that would be a huge shock to me; Gonzaga and Wichita State.
They should be looking at officials, too. Gonzaga got hosed in the NCAA Championship game on 2-3 calls at the end of the game.
I’d be shocked if Calhoun is not on the list.
Duke runs a basketball camp under the umbrella of a university. Does anyone truly think the top high school basketball players come even close to the Duke admission standards or seriously take courses toward a degree? I feel sure these players meets NCAA academic requirements, barely.
