Florida Teacher of the Year's gun violence post goes viral after school shooting

Raley said she’ll “take all the criticism and attacks” for her opinion because, as a teacher with two decades of experience, she has to worry about an active-shooter situation on a daily basis.

The middle school teacher said over her almost two decades as an educator that she’s seen an increase in violence and a lack of compassion among students.

“Until we, as a country, are willing to get serious and talk about mental health issues, lack of available care for the mental health issues, lack of discipline in the home, horrendous lack of parental support when the schools are trying to control horrible behavior at school (oh no! Not MY KID. What did YOU do to cause my kid to react that way?), lack of moral values, and yes, I’ll say it – violent video games that take away all sensitivity to ANY compassion for others’ lives – as well as reality TV that makes it commonplace for people to constantly scream up in each others’ faces and not value any other person but themselves, we will have a gun problem in school,” the sixth-grade language arts teacher wrote.

Raley, who loves hunting and four-wheeling in her spare time, added that she grew up with guns in her home.

“But you know what? My parents NEVER supported any bad behavior from me,” Raley said.

She said when she began teaching 20 years ago, she never had to worry about calling a student’s parents and getting cussed out, told to go to hell, or threatened with a public shaming all because she was calling out their child’s behavior. Something, she said, has got to change.

She doubles down that she had guns in her home.

In my second grade class we knew not to speak, even is our teacher had to leave the room. When she came in, we all stood up.

This teacher has hit the nail on the head. Because of the socialists demand to allow the kids to do anything and blame everyone but the child, we have come to this stage. Until we are able to RIGHTLY DISCIPLINE CHILDREN, show them that certain actions have consequences and they have to learn how to do things the right way. This type of behavior will continue and get worse.

This will get about 00:07 seconds on the media tonight, if at all. If it does get that seven seconds, there will be 13 minutes of rebuttal directly following.

Look at the comments under the Facebook post, 10 “Hell yeahs” to every virtue signalling leftist idiot who wants to argue the world is flat or that scary AR-15s that go boom boom are responsible for killing these kids all on their own. I think it’s due to global warming, Rush Limbaugh and Trump’s collusion with Russia and the “Gun lobby” if you ask me. We need more laws from the Schumer and Pelosi and more late night talk show hosts talking about it and more hashtags..more hashtags. #idontknowoneofthseskidsbuticareaboutgunsandrepublicans Yikes I did see this Cruz maniac went to my high school. I am from Coral Springs originally.

This women has it..my was a first grade teacher..when she first started in 1970...the kids came in and sat down and said nothing til class started..

I well remember the first day of elementary school. 95% of us were brought to school by our dads....that went for the white kids and the black kids.

I well remember my dad telling the teacher if I ever gave her any trouble to let him know and I would get double whatever punishment I got at school.

“Our kids don’t understand the permanency of death anymore!!!”

My sister told me the same thing not long ago when describing how a teenager responded after killing someone. “I want to go home now,” when it became a late hour at the police station. He will never go home.

“Gun Free Zone” signs are about as effective as “Germ Free Zone” signs. Even more gun control laws will be equally effective. That is, not at all. But Schumer’s Sheep and Pelosi’s Puppets will never acknowledge these simple facts.

“over her almost two decades as an educator that she’s seen an increase in violence and a lack of compassion among students.”

That is the problem... not the guns.

She’ll be mercilessly attacked by the rabid hyenas of the left just like that poor guy who lost his daughter Wednesday simply because he was wearing a Trump shirt. This murderous rampage has made me hate the left even more just when I didn’t think it was even possible.

A waste of time and money...arm all the teachers...

The problem started the day they kicked God out of our public life including our schools and inserted big government as a poor substitute. And then cheapened the value of human life by glorifying abortionism, homosexualism and 57 genders all as “perfectly normal” and protected and actually promoted by our immoral government. Our schools are now nothing but villages of godless America-hating leftists using satanic practices to indoctrinate and brainwash our children. The communists have been coming after our children for decades and looks like they’ve succeeded with anti-American liberal/progressive democrats’ blessings. It takes a village, my ass.

Hey libs, you were warned long ago but refused the Truth. You reap what you sow.

We need more mental health treatment and fewer psychotropic drugs.

The shooter was "in therapy" for depression, so it can't be argued that his mental illness was being ignored. The common treatment for depression is prescription of an SSRI drug. That "treatment" seems to have a consistent history with mass shooters. There are already studies that cite that SSRI drugs are not recommended for people under age 24. That also comports with the age range for school shooters.

“We need more mental health treatment and fewer psychotropic drugs.”

There are too many nuts out there. We need “Nut Control” not “Gun Control.”

What did they give her? She deserves a Toyota Tundra, but I’m guessing they gave her a Toyota Yaris.

I’m not sure which model. I just remember hearing, when all of this news broke out, the district superintendent saying it was a high/low day, as they’d just awarded their Teacher of the Year a new Toyota.
