Politico Thinks They Know Why The NRA Always Wins
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | February 20, 2018 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 02/20/2018 1:14:56 PM PST by Kaslin

RUSH: I’ll holding here in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers a printed piece from the recent issue of The Politico magazine, and the headline: “Why the NRA Always Wins.” And in the second paragraph is their answer: Rush Limbaugh.

“Rush Limbaugh went on Fox News, right after an interview with several Parkland [student] survivors critical of the gun lobby” but of course they’re not political, you see “to scold those who ‘bash the NRA’ and insist the only solution to school shootings is ‘concealed carry in the schools.’ …

“Why does the NRA always win, despite the repeated national traumas, and despite poll after poll showing a majority in favor…?” You know, I can answer this. I haven’t read any further. I just saw the headline, and Snerdley pointed it out to me. I told you why they win. It’s not because they give away money, and this piece says that. “It’s not the money.” It’s “the culture.” Exactly. The NRA is pikers as donors, compared to the others. I’ve been giving you the numbers the last two programs. I don’t need to repeat it. The NRA’s strength comes in its massive membership with average, ordinary Americans who appreciate, respect and love the organization and what it does — and it simply is unbeatable with standard Drive-By Media-led persecution techniques.

The obsession with the NRA. Plenty of gun owners who are not NRA.

There are Freepers who are members of Gun Owners of America. They cant just fathom supporting the NRA who supports backstabbing politicians like Harry Reid etc.

I’ve been an NRA member for many years as it is the strongest lobby to keep the Second Amendment as written to protect my natural right to buy, own and use firearms. I am a law-abiding citizen, family man, tax paying person. The NRA is made up by many thousands of people like me who vote to keep our gun rights.

The NRA wins because they know more about firearm safety than any other civilian organization in America!

"Plenty of gun owners who are not NRA."

There shouldn't be.

If you own a gun, and you are concerned about your right to own that gun, you should belong to the NRA-period.

And spare me all the "GOA is better crap". We need them all.

But if it wasn't for the NRA, we'd have all been shooting rubber-band guns since the 60's.

The NRA is a true grass roots organization unlike any number of Soros astro turf ones where he pays people to protest.

The biggest reason why the Communists hate the NRA is because they DO NOT WANT people to realize the NRA was organized after the Civil to protect the Negro right to own guns under the Constitution.

I’m a huge supporter of the idea of an NRA.

The NRA, not so much...

I know they do some good things, but they don’t live up to the hype, and on the fringes they capitulate.

This means the Leftists make inroads constantly.

It’s sort of like the Left trashing Republicans for being Conservative, when we know a good many Republicans are not Conservatives.

Bush, McCain, and others are trashed for being Conservative. Enough said on that point.

When I see the NRA trashed by the Left, it causes me to realize they are only adding to the aura of an organization they know will cave on issues over time.

Many folks like the NRA based on that one idea alone, the Leftists pretend to hate it.

There are a lot of people who want gun control, but most are only lukewarm in their desire. Meanwhile, gun owners are MUCH more likely to vote based on gun positions.

AMEN! I was a member once. For about 18 months. I donated too. But the ridiculous volume of mail and sales and advertising.... I asked repeatedly to be taken of mailing and calling lists. It was too much. There were scams linked to several calls and in one case, I received a DVD set of Self Defense videos, unsolicited with nowhere to return them and nobody to call. Then, 4 months later, I got a huge bill for them. That was about the end of my NRA membership. And I still get all kinds of stuff from them and others affiliated with them. I root for them and support their efforts. But they royally pissed me off and I quit.

I dumped the NRA when they gave unconditional support to Harry Reid.

Yeah, and that's a problem. The NRA has its own problems, but the media and politicians greatly fear the power of the NRA.

Back when Sarah Brady was flying into my state colluding with local gun grabbers to pass her usual agenda, the NRA was here with two lobbyists to help us stop her. They helped organize us to be more effective. And, it worked.

The GOA was no where to be seen. I have never seen GOA do anything other than put out inflamatory press releases. I have NEVER seen one of their representatives on the ground working in the states to get pro-gun laws passed.

For every NRA member, there is probably 15 to 18 non-members who are pro-gun voters and gun owners.
