Gotcha' beat . . . I haven't seen it 11 times.
LOL.
You win!
The movie is making lots of money for its white owner, Robert Iger, CEO of The Disney Company. As of yesterday Black Panther had earned $263,013,041 from U.S. ticket sales and $213,600,000 from foreign sales
For a Worldwide gross of $476,613,041. It is estimated that Black Panther cost about $200 million to make. Not bad for a movie that’s been out for a week.
The marketers basically played the AA community, and white guilt liberals I assume, into this movie being something more than it was... There have been high budget all black movies before, and yes even a black superhero out of the Marvel Universe, done before (Blade anyone?).
So I am sure it will make good ticket sales, particularly in the US... and as I said its not a BAD movie.... but its not a GREAT movie (and both of those statements are relative to its GENRE) It s a solid Movie, particularly for a second tier character in the Marvel Comic Book universe.
There was potential for this movie to be a great example of the genre, but the script just wasn’t up to the task for that. If you like the Marvel Universe its worth the price of admission. Its not a political piece, though it has a few moments, its not a social commentary piece, but it does have a line here or there... All in all its a solid GOOD movie for its genre.
For me personally, had the main antagonist been better written, more relatable, and given some more depth, I think this would have worked better, but it wasn’t to be. A tighter script, and a more rounded antagonist, and I think you could have gotten to 3.5-4 stars out of it, but it just didn’t get there. This isn’t a failing that is distinct to BP, many comic book movies have made the same mistakes, had the same weaknesses, after all, its not really character driven drama its we need a threat for the good guy to beat.
The soundtrack drove me away.
Can’t stand that nonsense on the radio for ten seconds, but I’m gonna sit through two hours of it?
I was taught that a Prince Albert is a metal rod piercing your wiener, on purpose.
Not to be confused with a Herb Alpert, which involves whipped cream or something.
Could you give some examples of "cringe-worthy dialog?"
Need not be verbatim - just the gist.
Regards,
A reference to the CIA agent as a colonial or some such.... is one. Can’t recall them all, but there were a few minor jabs. Much of the antagonists gripes could have came straight from a black lives matter kool aid drinker, but to its credit for the most part the main story arc rejects them.
Its not a SJW movie, but there are a line here and there that kind of makes you wince, and go, not needed, clearly politically motivated.
It must take plenty of brass to type a statement like that!
Its true...thats the description of a Prince Albert in piercing detail ....
That was probably the best possible response, so win for you!
That's not true, let's look at the recent superhero movies out
And quite frankly all of the black and Asian folks I know and who have seen the movies had zero problem with that - they are fantasty films after all. So having the movie the Black panther which is another fantasy movie is cool
It doesn't seem to have a libtard agenda, just a fun action movie
