As gunshots and screams echoed through his school, Lorenzo Prado said he locked himself in the sound booth at the auditorium at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and prepared to die.
But moments after the gunfire subsided and he thought he was safe, he said he was confronted by six officers pointing guns in his face.
"On the day of the Douglas massacre, I was a victim like everyone else," Prado, 17, said during an emotional news conference today in Tallahasse, the Florida state capital. "But my case was different than all the others because on that day, I was a suspected school shooter."
Prado said he was in the school auditorium when the gunfire broke out about 2:30 p.m. a week ago today. He said he heard screaming and people pounding on the door.
"I run downstairs to see 100 people banging on the door," he said. "I quickly opened the door to let the people in and I see my coach, [Chris] Hixon, running inside for safety."
He said he ran back to the sound booth and locked himself in.
"I was scared, and I ran to the safest place possible, which was the sound booth again," the eleventh-grader said. "I start to pace back and forth because I did not know what was going on -- and the people in the audience saw me. They saw me, and they panicked because I was matching the same description of [suspect] Nikolas Cruz. I had the same

Whiny bitch looking for his 15 minutes.
Sad story, but sorry, he’s not a “special” victim here, IMO.
Sometimes you are unfortunate enough to resemble the guy they’re actually looking for. It happens.
Every morning, 4,000 kids pouring through that one door? That won’t work. You’d need multiple doors and quite a few guards.
Of course, securing the building will only move the shooters to the outside to assemblies, field hockey games, football games, field trips, etc.
It’s almost impossible to stop short of arming every single teacher, admin, and counselor (which isn’t a bad idea).
This is all caused by societal ROT, largely gem-driven the past 60 years. Abortion inures people to death of innocents, no religion, violent rap, first-person shooter games on the internet, a 24x7 news cycle that has to be filled with content, a narcissistic “me” generation driven by self-esteem programs and wanting to be famous for 15 minutes, the ending of involuntary commitment of crazy to asylums. None of that is going to end soon, so expect the killings to continue. Our only hope is armed citizens kill the killer before he gets too far with his evil.
That would be to easy to implement.
So the perp offs the guard, buzzes himself in, and the students die. Better for the perp not to know who might or might not terminate him with extreme prejudice. Single-point of failure situation vs. multiple-point. No. The best answer is to allow any teacher who qualifies for CCW to CCW in the school.
Weird, Cruz wasn’t anywhere near the place when he was located.
How did this dude know what Cruz was wearing?
Very confusing.
If the cops had actually killed him in a hail of gunfire, it would have caused a lot more trouble.
Different world.
I’m pretty sure the cops looked at all the students as potential hostile actors until they proved otherwise by their actions. How were they to know who the perp was or whether he was acting alone?
The real perp brought an armed police response down on the school no one else.
I see no reason to attack this kid. He has a legitimate story to tell and he very well could have been killed by the police.

Amazing to see many running back to the Leftists side of the talking-points.
CCW, eh? How ‘bout any faculty member wishing to utilize their 2nd A. Rights do so. At the *worst* I believe they should check in as ‘carrying’ w/ the office.
School is hiring the fruit-loops, you got issue(s) already.
Course, none of this fixes ANYTHING. The ‘school to prison’ agreement is still in effect, the admins won’t call the police, the police won’t do squat, families will still be just as ‘surprised’ and on and on and on.
Bad apples won’t be removed, expulsions will still be overturned, teachers will continue to get assaulted and schools will continue to indoctrinate, not educate and the loonies won’t be put away.
School uniforms
No, they didn’t have uniforms.
“I see no reason to attack this kid.”
Because he’s a whiny bitch.
That's what I was thinking.
This kid might have been enterprising, or he might have been a coward...but he wasn't a blankety-blank victim.
Courts do. But that’s to protect the important people not just children.
Allen Texas high school has over 5k students. They would have to line up a 4am to get through security.
