The Navy is investigating allegations of a drug ring at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., involving roughly 10 midshipmen, according to a senior Naval Academy official with knowledge of the investigation.
Three midshipmen are accused of selling cocaine, ketamine (a powerful sedative) and LSD to their classmates purchased on the dark web using Bitcoin, according to three midshipmen currently enrolled at the school.
No formal charges have been brought against the midshipmen during the investigation, which began nearly three months ago after a midshipman reported the drug dealing to authorities.
Midshipmen sources estimated the number of students under investigation to be as high as roughly two-dozen, despite the lower official estimate.
In a sign of how seriously Naval Academy officials are taking the alleged drug use, the second in command of the school, Capt. Robert B. Chadwick II, ordered a surprise drug test for all the midshipmen at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. The entire Brigade of Midshipmen totals 4,500.
Normally, senior midshipmen leaders are given a heads up about drug tests the night before, and the tests are given only at the company level -- involving about 150 midshipmen at a time. Not so in this case, according to one of the midshipmen. Instead, all 4,500 were tested at the same time...

I haven’t been to the Naval Academy but I have some college and have been through the mill as an enlisted Marine.
I can’t *imagine* taking anything that would affect my focus in either an academic or military training environment. I can’t imagine even wanting to. I can’t imagine doing anything to intentionally jeopardize the opportunity that being a cadet at USNA would be.
Mind = boggled.
Annapolis is a gorgeous serene place and just can't imagine what is going on there....

Oh please, during the 70s and 80s coke, pot, LSD, Acid ran rampant across all branches of the armed forces and useable I guarantee eclipsed 30%. Folks act like this shite has never been there. Unlike today you always have that 10%. I can guarantee in the fleet usage is less than 2% due to the frequency and randomness of drug testing.

.........with respect, I beg to differ slightly. You are absolutely correct about rampant drug use in the 60’s & 70’s. I know, I was there and overseas the whole time.
But, in my opinion, that’s not the point tonight. This country was damn near lost and would have been if Hillary had been elected. So, the point is that millions of us are just devastated at what Obama and his band of Marxists did to our military. This Naval Academy thing is just more salt in that wound.
This is not isolated and always way less than American average. I know very well.
